@MsVyverman Yes! We talked about less assessments on Fridays. It’s too easy to forget about them and move on to the next thing!

A4: Stop planning assessments at the end of the grading period. That is a stopping point; it leaves no room for re-teach or re-test. How can we compare data when the clock is ticking to turn in grades? How can we give Ss meaningful feedback? We must make time. #nisdedchat

A4: Talk about the assessment. Gather data and USE the data to drive instruction. We need to make sure our assessment “rules&guidelines” match what’s best for kids. Do zeros in the grade book do that? #nisdedchat

@misskaitiesmith Yes!! It’s painful the first few times you do it, but now I love pointing out when I make a mistake! I tell kiddos I’m human too and I just learned from a mistake! Gotta be vulnerable.

@MsFriedlander It makes me feel like we’re doing our job right when the students are happier to see growth in their data than getting a simple “good job” with a sticker. Intrinsic motivation is everything!!

A2: Ss use of the data is just as important as teacher use! Students can know if they learned something or if they need more practice. They can see their growth and be self aware on when they need to work on. Taking ownership of their learning is empowering! #nisdedchat
