This a.m. had to tell my editor today that my draft of IS23 isn't going well. Spent entire long weekend on section that didn't work. Missing deadlines, feelings of failure...it's often part of this process. Thinking of you and your readers is what keeps me positive. 💕

@Dean_of_math I’m teaching fourth graders how to multiply fractions right now and I guess I just don’t know how they already use this in their daily life. Once I taught kids to knit and they each made one for the homeless shelter. They wanted to measure it constantly to see if it was done.

Let's please stop giving math a 'real world context' or telling our students that they'll need it 'in the real world'. Instead, let's make it meaningful right now, to the learners in our room.

@richbacolor Same. In addition to birdwatching in our yard, my kids like to bugwatch too.

Theory into practice. We added more native plant species to the yard this year. We also reduced lawn area. Monarchs, swallowtails, and myriad less flashy pollinators have been frequent visitors. #plantnativeplants #theywillcome #nomownowwhat #homegrownnationalpark
