Our evening concert was attended by some “special guests” who enhanced the fifth grade band’s rendition of Star Wars! Our guests from a galaxy far away stayed behind afterwards to take pictures with some young audience members, too! @HBMATTLIN1

Some students had lunch with author Sarah Beth Durst today! While they enjoyed pizza (sponsored by PTA), they asked lots of questions, like, “How do you expand on important parts?” and “How do you start a book?” Our future writers learned a lot! @HBMATTLIN1

Our 5th graders were inspired by the poem “If All the Trees Were Oaks.” They wrote about the importance of diversity on leaves which are now featured, suspended mid-air, in a PRIDE showcase. A matching banner was a highlight of PRIDE week! @HBMATTLIN1 @coladonatoj @marytomeara

Our students analyzed drawings and paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries to learn more about how slaves toiled to cultivate sugar in the Western Hemisphere. @HBMATTLIN1 @POBSchools
