mygit update: branches, checkout, status, and a real staging index are in. Refs point at commits. Index points at blobs. Object store stays content-addressed underneath. Diff + merge next. #BuildInPublic #GoLang #Git

@LukioTec Loose object store only for now: serialize -> SHA-1 ->zlib ->.git/objects/ab/cdef... Refs and index are separate. they hold pointers (hashes), not object data.

@mrunmayee300 Rebuilding Git in Go is a great way to really get the internals. The ref and index handling surprised me most when I poked at it years ago. How are you structuring the object store?

Started learning Go recently, so I picked a project that would teach me both Go and Git internals. Building **mygit**: a Git clone from scratch in Go! So far: ✅ init ✅ blobs (SHA-1 + zlib) ✅ trees ✅ commits (DAG + refs) ✅ log

Along the way, I've been learning: • Content-addressable storage • Hashing & compression • File system internals • Tree data structures • DAGs (Directed Acyclic Graphs) • CLI development in Go • Version control system design
