Happy #NationalComingOutDay. Coming out will always be a privilege. A difficult one, but a privilege all the same. But for many, coming out will never be a safe option and that breaks my heart. So wherever you are in your journey, please know you are loved unconditionally.

@mrwagnersclass @susangbarber I talked about you in my Islamic Art History class today when we talked about the “Canon” or fine art and it’s exclusion of anything not Eurocentric. I brought up the way we were able to test the canon in AP lit and read things that mattered to US. The same is true for art ◡̈

Education is hard these days. Why do you keep returning to the classroom???

Every year, I have my students commit to completing a non-academic goal by the time our year together is up. Mixed in the getting a license and first job commitments are some insights into how emotionally aware this generation is and it makes my heart happy. 💛💙

So many of you have been beside my family as we’ve navigated Parkinsons the last few years, so on behalf of all of us, thank you for loving us. My dad is no longer suffering and we get to celebrate a life of laughter, deep hearted love, and an appreciation of mischief. ❤️

Good catching up with two of my favorite people and talking about the next chapters life is bringing as they head off to college. Can’t wait to see them back teaching at Gahanna some day. 😉 Thanks for always making me laugh and being so dependable! You’re off to do great things!

Incredibly grateful to get to catch up with these two remarkable humans for coffee today. Great to hear about Gabby’s year in Chicago and celebrate Gabbie’s soon to be start at OU. Some laughs about BlackBox and talks about Barbie are always good for the soul.

My apologies for lack of posting, but just know the summer adventures have been worth unplugging. Over 3000 miles driven, 10 states visited, 50 miles hiked, and more to come. And all with the people I love. Remember to take time for you. You’re worth it.
