There is a powerful moment in Scripture that many people overlook, yet it carries one of the deepest revelations of grace.
A woman—broken, rejected, and known in her city for sin—walked into a room full of “righteous” people. She wasn’t invited. She wasn’t welcomed. In fact, her presence alone was offensive.
But she came anyway… because she had encountered something greater than her shame—she had encountered mercy.
When she saw Jesus Christ, she didn’t speak many words. She didn’t try to defend her past. She didn’t try to impress anyone.
She fell at His feet.
Her tears began to flow—uncontrollable, sincere, deep. Those tears were not ordinary tears… they were the language of a heart that had seen its own brokenness and still found hope.
She wept so much that her tears washed His feet.
Then she did something even more shocking…
She loosened her hair—something no respectable woman would do in public—and used it to wipe His feet. In that moment, she laid down her dignity, her pride, her reputation… everything.
Then she poured out the oil.
Not just any oil… costly oil. The kind that people save for special moments. The kind that represents value, sacrifice, and honor.
While others saw a sinful woman… Jesus saw a surrendered heart.
While others judged her past… Jesus responded to her faith.
While others whispered in criticism… Jesus spoke forgiveness.
“Your sins are forgiven… your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Oh, what a powerful exchange!
She came in with shame… She left with peace.
She came in as a sinner… She left as someone forgiven.
She came in rejected by men… She left accepted by God.
This story is not just about her…
It is about YOU.
There are moments in life where you feel unworthy to come before God. Your mistakes speak louder than your prayers. Your past tries to disqualify you. People label you and remind you of who you used to be.
But listen carefully—
God is not moved by your perfection. He is moved by your sincerity.
You don’t need a perfect record to come to Christ. You need a broken and honest heart.
Stop waiting until you “fix yourself” before coming to God.
Come with your tears. Come with your pain. Come with your struggles.
Lay everything at His feet.
Because at the feet of Jesus Christ:
Shame loses its power
Guilt is washed away
Love is restored
Peace is given
Let your tears speak. Let your heart pour out.
Because one genuine moment at His feet can do what years of self-effort could never achieve.
Your past is not stronger than His mercy.
Your sin is not greater than His grace.
Come… just as you are.
