What Ycee said on that Podcast is what many people say in their friendship groups. He showed courage and was bold enough to say it as it is. There's an Olodo uprising in Nigeria, and it began with “School na scam”. It has become an enduring phenomenon. Students come online to post their academic success and they get bashed for it. They're told that they should get on something else because their education won't get them anywhere. There's no proper role-modelling. A country that gives no credence to its intellectuals and its finest minds can't progress. It's impossible. So we have Olodo uprising and an exodus of brilliance from within. This isn't about spoken or written English, it's about the quality of conversations and the depth of thinking that's exhibited on social media and offline. There's a dip. It's evident. I mean, painstaking research works done in universities end up on shelves, dust-ridden, useless yet useful. Peller, quite unfairly, has become the hallmark of that description of an intellectual rot in Nigeria, but credit to him, an idiot doesn't maintain the level he's at. It takes a sound mind to devise methods to continuously keep people paying for his own advancement. He's only seeking survival and he's earned his bread. I can't fault that. But there are deeper issues. Education in Nigeria has increasingly become unpopular yet it's the greatest gift the common man can get. That has nothing to do with Peller. He's just a victim of a poor system who managed to turn the corner. Foolery sells in a society that hisses at education. And education isn't only done within the four walls of a school. The streets don't lie. We see the fingerprints.

From June 1st, I will be heading the engineering and technical team of a health startup based in Lagos Nigeria (presently worth $20 million in valuation) I will be recruiting 10 people into the engineering team for the following positions. QAs Product Owners AI Engineers DevOps Software Engineers (Full Stack) That’s a lot of work for me to handle the recruitment process because we don’t have HR yet. I can only handle the technical interviews. Is there any recruitment agency you can recommend?

@DaveBigsteppa @kunle_pata Good to hear that. I knew he had a spot on campus; myself and my siblings used to go there whenever we went to work with our parents. I have stories for days about Iree!

This same 1998 was the year my uncle showed up at our house in Lagos from Ire Poly, Osun State wearing only knicker and singlet. 😂 At first, I was shocked. How do you arrive from school dressed like that? Short and singlet ke? How? What happened?? I was the first to see him. Initially, I was excited… my favorite uncle was back! Then it hit me… why is he looking like this? I immediately ran inside shouting in Yoruba, “Ẹ wá wo uncle mi o!” 😂 Now here’s the funniest part. After we settled down and welcomed him, he explained that there had been a cult clash at the school. According to him, everyone had to run for their lives. He said he jumped out through his window the night before just to escape and to crown it all, he slept in a burial ground until daybreak. As a child, that story scarred me small. Ever since then, I’ve had permanent fear for that school. 😂
Hi. It’s me, Ola.@olanikemi

Let’s throw back. 1998 ( Iree poly) and 2018 ( Canada) 😜

@yvessirae Some people don’t understand how painful it is to be in a relationship and still feel lonely. Not because you don’t have a partner, but because your partner is never present.

A girl sat in front of me in a train and she was on a call with her boyfriend, She kept saying, "I spend my whole day buried in work and when finally my work ends, all I want is to talk to you...to share things, to listen to you, to just have us for a moment. But the minute your work ends, everything else matters except me. I'm not asking you to leave anything. Just... give me a little time too. A little space in your world. And if you truly don't want this anymore...just say it. Don't keep me hanging. I'll walk away. It'll hurt... but I will go." The call ended. And she broke - the kind that come from being strong for too long. She was a stranger, but in that moment, I wanted to hug her. Because people like her get labelled "too emotional," "too demanding," when all they really want is to feel valued... to not fight every day for the bare minimum.

I think it’s high time to start calling out pinnacle store in Ibadan. They are very chaotic, cashiers lack manners and they have zero empathy for their customers.
