These scientists embarked on our Quest Check-In lab challenge where they needed to select materials to design a bridge strong. Lab groups worked together to plan, construct, test, and evaluate their bridge designs. #d39cheetahs

There’s lots to celebrate in The Mooneyverse and today we are celebrating our MARVELOUS published authors! We enjoyed our literary celebration reading and complimenting our fellow authors on their small moment personal narrative stories. #d39cheetahs

Math is all around us. Today we used our knowledge of subtraction to compare the life span of different animals. We plotted each animal’s life span on a timeline as we worked. #d39cheetahs

Our scientists worked together to plan and create a structure using all of the materials. This engineering challenge was an exciting launch to our quest! #d39cheetahs

The Mooneyverse Publishing Company is officially up and running! Authors met with their editors to support each other in revising their pieces. This is the final step before we publish our small moment personal narrative stories! #d39cheetahs

Our Phonics Professors are using their knowledge of determining powerful patterns to find them in their rhyming books. These powerful patterns help us read and spell more efficiently like second graders! #d39cheetahs

Math game alert! Today we played “Bump and Lock” three-digit addition version to practice adding three digit numbers that require regrouping. Game boards are going home so the math fun can continue! #d39cheetahs

Our Phonics Professors played “Pass the Blend” today using our new beginning consonant blend and ending consonant blend charts. Ask your professor to teach you how to pass the blend and see how many words you can come up with! #d39cheetahs

We are goal getters! The Marvelous Mooneys used the McKenzie garden for inspiration about how much we are going to grow this year. We created our own “goal garden” with our beautiful artwork and 2nd grade goals! #d39cheetahs

The Marvelous Mooney Phonics Professors are hard at work reviewing everything they learned last year about phonics. We’ve looked for Phonics Professor Words in our names and practiced short vs. long vowels. #d39cheetahs

We loved playing our first math game “Sums to 20” to practice our math facts. The greatest sum wins, and all you need is a deck of cards to play at home to keep the learning and fun going! #d39cheetahs

We put our editor hats on today as we worked together to revise our poems. We’re very excited for The Marvelous Mooney Poetry Slam next week! #d39cheetahs

We loved sharing our published hardcover nonfiction books with our 4th grade reading buddies! The 4th graders all shared that they still have their hardcover books from when they were in 2nd grade! Definitely warmed my teacher heart! #d39cheetahs

The Marvelous Mooneys LOVE reading! It was music to my ears when I heard, “Best day ever!” after telling the kids we can cozy up in our snow globe classroom and read by the “fire”. It’s when the little things become big things that you feel the magic of 2nd grade ✨#d39cheetahs

2nd grade is SNOW much fun! We had a special 2nd grade recess to take advantage of the fresh snow. It was a privilege to witness the pure joy that this surprise recess gave our 2nd graders ❄️ #d39cheetahs
