When one of my writers finished his essay on Monday, his fellow peers clapped and told him “way to go” and “good job.” Instead of pressuring him because he was one of the last to finish, my community of learners showed him encouragement and kindness. #whyiteach #highflyinghawks

We did an oldie but goodie today in Creative Writing: the Marshmallow Challenge. We set group work norms and discussed how having a strong foundation (plan/brainstorm) is the key. Our tallest structure was 28 inches! Great work today, hawks 💪🏼 #highflyinghawks

We've been using a lot of @PlayBlooket this year to engage our learners, which has been great. But today, I used an oldie but a goodie @quizletlive and I loved how teamwork won the day!

@ms_raso @caitteach I gave a mentor text, then allowed students time to read, respond, and review one another’s writing. It was a great way to publish work and have students share, especially in an immediate and virtual environment. I was also able to write alongside them and provide quick feedback.

@mcastner1 @caitteach I used Gimkit only for games this year. But, this sounds awesome. How did you use Gimkit Ink in your classroom?

@caitteach Gimkit Ink was such a great way to do low stakes writing and publishing with students. Highly recommend. Projecttopeka.com is also a fantastic argumentative writing tool. They offer fall and spring pilots of free software to give students realtime writing feedback.

I am proud of the reading my students continue to do in our virtual environment. Here are a few of the One-pagers they completed to showcase their current reads. #gainesvillegetsreading

This week we reflected on celebrating our reading progress, big and small, that we accomplished so far this year. My students' responses made this teacher's heart happy and full. ❤️ #gainesvillegetsreading

Such great thinking & learning today with @Catlin_Tucker about concurrent learning. Thank you for this great strategy of Flip-Flop! I can definitely see how it will be beneficial in our upcoming writing instruction.
