This year our class has a big focus on learning about and becoming “changemakers”! One way we did this was writing letters to @KayabagaArielle about challenges faced on Indigenous reserves in Ontario. Thank you to our MP for your reply and supporting our young changemakers!@TVDSB

This morning we got out in the beautiful sunshine to estimate and measure our sign. Now that we know it’s 7.5m long, we’re going to try to figure out how many 10cm letters would fit across it. So much pride in this pack of mathematicians! @WilfridJuryPS

We’ve been working hard on NF text features, and applied this to an informational text about a changemaker. Ss read a text and took notes on the important information. Then they used their best ideas to made these beautiful texts using Google slides to practice our tech skills!

On Fridays we always do a flashback Friday song and each person rates it from 1-5. Then we use it as an authentic activity to solve the average rating for the whole class. I love integrating math throughout all areas! @WilfridJuryPS

After our call with a travel nurse in Kashechewan, Ontario, we consolidated our learning by formally answering our selected inquiry questions. So proud of these 3s! Next, we’re going to be writing to our MP to persuade them to make positive change for reserve communities!

Ss in our class and Mrs. Smith’s G3 class have been working hard to create this incredible interactive map of Ontario municipalities and cities! The colours show population density, and each student researched a city and made a slide about it that is now a QR code on the map!

Today was a day full of inquiry! We started using the lotus model to generate questions about the Kashechewan reserve, and then we got to talk to a travel nurse there to learn about the challenges the people on this reserve face. I’m so proud of these learners! @WilfridJuryPS

Today we used Google Read and Write to help us listen to articles to gather ideas for our first persuasive paragraphs. So proud of the focus and dedication of these writers! @WilfridJuryPS

Ss saw Indigenous art in our lobby, prompting questions and connections to our SS unit. Today we visited the exclusive 'Mrs. B Indigenous Art Gallery'. We enjoyed exploring FNMI art and making connections to our learning. So proud of these learners! @WilfridJuryPS@fnmitvdsb

Our shape exploration continues! @knowledgehook provided feedback that we needed some extra practice composing and decomposing shapes, so we broke out physical and digital manipulatives such as @PolyPad_App to practice. Reassessment on @knowledgehook showed growth. Way to go, 3s!

Snow day fun! We had an amazing math exploration today looking at all of our shapes, learning new unique 3D shapes, composing new shapes out of existing 3D objects, building structures and finding 2D and 3D shapes with in them and making connections to our structures science unit

Back to school and back to work already for 2025! I love exploring 2D and 3D hands on through building. Ss extended their thinking by making prisms and pyramids we haven’t learned about yet. So proud of them! @WilfridJuryPS

Few things make my heart swell quite like seeing how my students describe our classroom. I almost cried reading “our classroom feels like a family, home”. THIS is why I do my job❤️ @WilfridJuryPS

We had an incredible time testing our safety devices to protect our eggs from gravity! Huge thanks to my amazing teaching partner Mrs. Smith, our custodians for caring for our devices and getting them safely to their roof, and our VP @JMendrinos for dropping them! @WilfridJuryPS

Using Halloween as a great opportunity to explore the principles of art! We are practicing mixing secondary colours within a colour wheel and making tints using white. So proud of these spooky spider web colour wheel creations! @WilfridJuryPS

We are back using our problem solving mats in grade 3 to solve tricky thinking problems! We first highlight our WIK (what I know) and WINK (what I need to know) then did the work, checked and wrote our final sentence. So proud of these kiddos! @WilfridJuryPS

Today we had fun with forces! Ss explored non-contact forces using a balloon and a pop can, and discovered wind and static-electricity from balloons can move pop cans without touching them. It is always so much fun to learn through hands on experiments in science! @WilfridJuryPS

In grade 3 we are scientists! We partnered with Mrs. Smith’s grade 3s to experiment with paint and pompoms to learn about the force of gravity. Ss did a great job hypothesizing, testing, recording data, and analyzing their findings. A great start to our forces unit!@WilfridJuryPS
