The @ISSCR Annual Meeting is back in Europe after 9 years, which means a lab trip for HITBR (@zi_mannheim / @UniHeidelberg). My 1st time attending such a large conference—glad to be part of this event with fellow researchers in the stem cell community! #ISSCR2024

What an impressive #interdisciplinary symposium organized by the brilliant minds of the 2022/23 Young Marsilius Fellows @UniHeidelberg @MKolleg! Enjoyed exploring the concepts of time & space through various presentation formats while bridging fields in #science and #humanities!

My 1st @UniHeidelberg #IZN retreat complete! Good variety of talks on a range of topics for this year’s theme ‘Neural Representations’—from molecular to clinical to computational #neuroscience. It has been a while since I canoed 🛶 #PhDstudent

A few weekends ago at the @Neurasmus_ Annual Meeting, we celebrated the 2021-23 cohort after listening to their master’s thesis presentations. Also had several guest speakers, including Nobel Laureate @Stefan_W_Hell—super cool to hear about STED 🔬directly from him! #neuroscience

Enjoyed an enlightening chat with former PI @KKubatzky who had imparted her knowledge during the early days of my #research journey. It's nice to reconnect with an excellent mentor like her after so many years! 😊

Yesterday @mschristyyu came to my office for a visit! In 2018 she came to my lab through the Ontario-BaWü program (OBW). 5 years later she is back to Germany doing a PhD 👍. It makes me super happy to get news from my former students, that’s really the best part of teaching 🤗

It’s been over a year since I’ve been in Berlin. So nice to reconnect with some familiar faces and do some #networking with new ones at the Berlin #Neuroscience Meeting. Always refreshing to hear some scientific talks of current work done in the field @ECN_Berlin #research

My first time attending a PhD thesis defence—definitely a neat experience to take part in this ceremony. Congrats to Dr. Annemiek van Berkel for her hard work on STXBP1 👏🏼 Her opening presentation was in Dutch so it was a fun way to test my language skills 😄

Recently finished listening to the journey of CRISPR 🧬✂️ in @WalterIsaacson’s biography of Jennifer Doudna. Been recommending it to all my science friends. It’s inspiring without being overly optimistic, as it touches on bioethics and other challenges in research/academia

Check out this powerful new app to visualize protein expression during differentiation of iPSC neurons - developed by James Hawrot, Andy Qi, Mike Nalls, and Faraz Faghri at NIH and DTI, leveraging datasets from our recent iNDI pre-print. niacard.shinyapps.io/i3Neuron/

A lot of the times I come up with questions or thoughts after the class or meeting is over, which makes it sometimes difficult for me to participate in the discussion 😕 Glad this is being acknowledged #AcademicTwitter #foodforthought

As someone who is a slow thinker I've always thought we in science put too much emphasis on fast thinking, Q&As, chalk talks, thesis exams, many classroom interactions are geared towards rewarding speed. But in science what matters is not who thinks fastest but who thinks deepest

Also enjoyed a lovely performance by Eva Serena and a ‘Black Hole’ cocktail. It’s been a long time since I attended an event
