I love visiting the admin building because there is always something I snap a picture of to show my 5th graders! This time it was the amazing Wrinkle in Time character stylings I saw. Some of my students were inspired and said they were going to try it for a book we are reading!

I wonder if deep down she secretly knew that she’d grow up to try and become the kind of teacher she always looked up to and admired so much. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to the ones who shaped us… and to the versions of us who grew up to carry it forward 💛

Annual Earth Day clean up! We were a week or so late because of the weather lately! While cleaning up, we discovered a mama bird who laid her eggs at Furr!

A new Ms. Deese era is loading… I am SO excited to be heading back down to 3rd grade! I swear I have teacher ADHD and get bored and want to move grades every 2-3 years 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yesterday, while teaching about splashdown, I realized that the astronauts on this mission were once kids learning about the Apollo missions. It made me think… there is a student in a classroom right now who is forming a dream that will one day make history in space.

As we head into the final round of Poetry March Madness tomorrow, I’m proud of the growth my 5th graders have demonstrated in comprehending, analyzing, and discussing poetry. Their confidence and academic conversations have truly elevated through our bracket battles!

There are not enough words to express how incredible her leadership is! Congrats to the best principal!

My favorite part of Learner’s Showcase each year is having them vote on their favorite book we have read together! Fuzzy Mud was a popular one (and also the one we just finished)📚⭐️

5th graders are hitting those ELPS by preparing for a debate about what letter of the English alphabet needs to go! @FurrElem Can’t wait to hear them debate it out tomorrow!!

67 days of attendance in a row = a 67 cake to celebrate except the Walmart bakery took creative liberties! My new goal is 100 days!

My classroom library helpers wanted to add post its with recommendations for each bucket! I love it when they take over and make our classroom their learning space!

Fun day in 5th!! My 67th day of attendance in a row and we started March Poetry Madness! It’s my first year doing March Poetry Madness but I’m so excited!

After a week of reading, synthesizing, and writing, we used @curipodofficial to get a quick snapshot of their opinions on the share portion of our workshop today! Interestingly enough, 5th grade thinks ocean exploration is the way to go!
