Full interview: Moana Maniapoto sits down with Chris Finlayson and Matthew Hooton. Both the former politician and the political commentator describe the proposed Treaty Principles Bill as ‘radical.’ We did reach out to Elizabeth Rata, Don Brash, Rodney Hide, Richard Prebble, Muriel Newman and Danae Smith! They either declined or didn’t get back to us.

The US is in its second largest wave of the entire pandemic and New Zealand is out here low on free RAT tests, and is about to make people pay $60 for one box in a cost of living crisis, during an ongoing pandemic. What on earth are we doing, and follow up - why is it acceptable?

Our coalition government: seperating trans athletes from grassroots sports is about "fairness and safety" for women. Also our coalition government: we can't justify funding period products in schools. Make it make sense.

University of Otago research shows free prescriptions mean lower hospitalisation rates. For every dollar earned from prescription charges, we could be paying up to $18 in extra hospital costs. This is absolute economic illiteracy from the people that promised more.

Starting today, you can now vote in the 2023 General Election from any voting place in New Zealand until 7pm on October 14. An advance or early vote is a vote cast before election day. Advance voting is for everyone, you don't need a reason or approval to vote early.

Mōrena e te whānau! 😊 Saturday column time. Poverty, this week. Our poorest - and their striking absence from this election campaign. Please read it if you have time. (Thank you.) John Campbell: Poulton, poverty and the real way to get tough on crime 1news.co.nz/2023/09/30/joh…

Very proud of what our community of amazing whānau have achieved. This morning we had a whakawātea to start our first official day of operation. Such a special place & important kaupapa, so lucky our tamariki get to spend their days there.

@ellenvmelon I think they are a great idea! But yeah just not sure I have either time or energy for more than online ordering at this stage. 😂 (which I’ve discovered is all too easy having been sucked into the vortex that is people selling 2nd hand kids clothes on Instagram) 😅

@mshel Clothes swaps! We have a long standing tradition amongst (mostly sop/alto) choir folks of having them as a social event. They're great! But probably high in terms of time/energy sink 😅

Reckon it’s finally time to get some new-to-me clothes for work (and fun) for the summer. HMU with your best recommendations for 2nd hand clothes! Already following the amazing workitflipitreverseit & fifteenthirtyfortyfive. ☺️

@Styla73 There were 2 subcommittees streaming at the same time today, unfortunately (fortunately?) I think they were largely grouped into anti & pro, with A being pro (and getting very little FB engagement) and B being anti (and getting heaps of comments/shares).

Yo Wellington - @Herbertimo & I have the rare opportunity to get a WOAP burger in town for lunch today. The choices are overwhelming, help us out, what’s the best burger you’ve had?

We’re using fly buys points to get some blunt umbrellas & as tempting as it is to get the ‘sport’ size, reckon I’d feel a bit of a dick walking along the Terrace with one of these. 😅

This “politics was the winner” when the debate is “fighty” is wrong. It should NOT be a blood sport! See the great work being done by @TheHuiNZ and Māori candidates showing a better way to progress ideas and policy without “violence”. Even metaphorical.
