In these days of satnav and googlemaps, the children were excited to have the opportunity in our geography lesson to explore a range of maps, altlas and globes. In science, Mr Snake was impressed that the children could label the parts of their 2d flowers. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

As part of our quest to familiarise ourselves with the parts of a plant, Snowdrop class donned their gardening gloves and did a bit of weeding. Just look at the roots on these! We were interested to see how different plants had different root structures. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

How exciting to venture out on our first school trip! Snowdrop class took a walk to the beach to create some beach art and observe the human and physical features of our environment. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

Mr Snake had a visit from a distant relative this week. He helped us learn about verbs and adding the suffix 'ing'. In art, we followed the instructions on how to draw a spring flower, with amazing results! @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

Y1 had a googlemeet with the very engaging minister of Bellevue Baptist Church, Andy Goodliff. As part of our RE topic, Andy used his phone to show us around the church and explain the significance of the symbols and beliefs that make up their community. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

The DT project continued this week with some castle making. Using rulers to measure where to cut the battlements also proved a perfect link to this week's learning in maths! We took the learning outside in science to investigate sinking and floating. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

Snowdrop class linked their current science and design & technology topics to build weather proof debris shelters for the Moshi Monsters. Will they keep them warm and dry? Is the construction strong enough to stop the Big Bad Wolf? Could they be improved? @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

Snowdrop class have been having great fun making Santa's sleigh and investigating what makes it go faster and slower. We have also been retelling the story of Trixie the Penguin. Why not ask your child to tell it to you and teach you the actions!

Run, run as fast as you can, what has happened to the Gingerbread Man? As part of our Talk for Writing topic, Snowdrop class used all their investigative skills to solve the mystery of how the soggy remains of a gingerbread man ended up in our classroom. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop

We had a lovely outdoor learning session in the woods today. The Snowdrops created their own clay faces on the trunks of the trees, using the resources around them to add details such as eyes and hair. @GreenwaysPri #snowdrop
