@sephr @josephfcox @404mediaco I don't know what your trying to argue. No one cares if you, an individual scrapes a website (within reason). But if your business is largely dependent on scrapping websites, then what are you really selling?

We explicitly put up a freewall on our articles (requires email signup) in part to stop AI tools from scraping our work (explanation here 404media.co/why-404-media-…). Now some AI tools are even scraping past paywalls too. Our labor has value, fuck you x.com/JohnPaczkowski…

Perplexity’s knock off of our reporting feels like a crystallization of the "Can journalism survive AI?" convo. The company took our paywalled work, without our permission, and competitively broadcast it across web, video, mobile — as though it were itself a media outlet.

@xoxogossipgita I think the toggle light switch is a classic for a reason but I've been having a lot of fun with the lastest dimmers too. Put a ton of hours into motion sensor switches and found them unreliable - def skip.

@patrickklepek @crossplayblog This also reminds me of the worst dark pattern I ever experienced with Adobe. I signed up for a 7 day free trial of Acrobat and they make you wait to cancel the free trial! And not just a few minutes, you have to wait days. They're counting on you forgetting!
