Qasim creates the illusion of a flying dragon in his drawing while Aja zooms in for a great composition! Saw-Lynn notices all of the intricacies of her folded paper while Tatiana creates realism by adding a wide range of values! @hcpss

Seher accurately renders her origami flower while Brandon-Jacob proves close observation by adding the paper pattern & the highlight on the table. Katie captures all of the subtle folds & dents in her paper while Alex’s uses his knowledge of perspective to draw a fantastic crane!

Shayla and Jillian create the illusion of butterfly origami in mid air while Paige uses straight lines to represent those crisp folds! Luca creates lots of contrasts while creating those super dark shadows and bright highlights! @hcpss

Harley creates an interesting composition by adding the table in the background while Kayleigh challenges herself to draw the pattern on the origami paper. Sophia also challenges herself by adding a 4th piece of origami while Peyton creates a beautiful composition by zooming in!

Check out these high contrast white charcoal origami drawings that Studio B just finished! Students were challenged to create three different pieces of origami and then draw them using reverse value. The twist was creating a realistic shadow of their origami animal/thing! @hcpss

Sandra creates a design with lots of detail while Riddhi opts for a bold design to represent all of the positive things that came from this era. Sophia’s design represents growing our knowledge & spending time w/ family while Ava’s design represents people coming together.@hcpss

Liv creates a beach scene in her shot to represent medical advances & time to relax while Arianna represents more time to do the things she loves. MacKenzie represents more time for social media while Kaitlyn creates a design about having more time to play lacrosse. @hcpss

Safia creates a design to represent more adopted pets & Danielle creates a coo coo clock to represent spending more time with family. Luke creates a design to represent nature thriving along with peace and Isaiah represents a healthier environment & more time to play football.

Rolan created a colorful design representing hope while Amelia created a design w/beautiful, fine details to represent new ideas and hope. Kelsey created a beautiful sunset design while Aydan used symbols to represent more people adopting pets and medical advances. @HCPSS

Check out Art Studio A’s linoleum prints outside of the media center. Students were challenged to brainstorm and focus on the positive things that have come from the Covid era. Then, they were asked to created a symbol to represent it.

Congrats to Seher P., Brandon-Jacob M., Peyton Y., Kaleigh R., Aja S., and Tatiana S. for having their work chosen to be on display at this year’s 8th grade showcase at the Board of Education. Reception is on 12/7/22 from 5-6pm @HCPSS

Harley creates a pretty symmetrical design for her illuminated letter while Maddie uses color, pattern, and calligraphy to represent her middle eastern heritage! Great job, ladies! @HCPSS

Jillian creates a beautiful woven pattern in her background using cross hatching while Sidney uses a lot of great layers and visual pathways. Vince creates good contrast with his blue letter on a warm colored background while Vivienne goes for a more muted color scheme! @HCPSS

Khushi created many layers in her design to add depth while Luca adds depth by adding gradations in his colored areas. Zach creates a design with very nice craftsmanship while Matty creates nice contrast with his blue and orange color scheme! @HCPSS

Alex creates an awesome tiny beach scene in the negative space of his “A” while Paige creates a map of WI to represent where she is from. Ellie uses an elaborate border & bold colors to draw the eye to her work while Lily forces the viewer to look close at all her tiny details!

Aja creates fine details and texture in her piece using pen while Tatiana creates a beautiful visual pathway in her piece using music notes. Katie and Sae-Lynn add lots of natural details in their pieces to represent their interest in nature! @HCPSS

Check out these Studio B illuminated letters in the hallways by the media center! Students illustrated their initial w/imagery that represents them & then learned to add various styles of mark making to create shading with ballpoint pen. Later, students added color w/ watercolor!

Grace does a great job adding the details to her laces while Safia creates beautiful texture on her boot! Joshi adds in great details to her boot as well and Sandra challenges herself by drawing 2 shoes!

Lillian accurately renders the shiny texture of her shoe while Chloe focuses on the details in her flip flop. Sabers and Riddhi also add a lot of detail and a beautiful range of values to their shows to give it a real, 3D feel!

Evan accurately renders all of the fine details in his drawing while Micah created a challenging composition w/ both shoes! Luke establishes some fantastic dark values to achieve the realistic color of his shoe & Rolan gives the shoe shine w/ his bright highlights & dark shadows!
