The Mississippi Cyber and Technology Center adjacent to the Keesler Air Force Base is officially under construction! MSU President Mark E. Keenum was among the featured speakers at today’s “History is Lunch” event entitled “The Life and Legacy of Thad Cochran” sponsored by the Miss. Department of Archives and History. Keenum previously served as the late powerful senator’s chief of staff on Capitol Hill. Other speakers included former Gov. Haley Barbour, Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Leslie Southwick, Nehemiah Flowers, and Brad White.

MSU First Lady Rhonda Keenum presented comedienne and Ripley native Ellen Skrmetti a personalized MSU cowbell from Starkville artist Vicki Burnett prior to her appearance at The Mill at MSU on March 6. Trained at Second City, Skrmetti launched her comedy career after a successful career in sales and marketing. Her husband Tim Skrmetti, is an alumnus of MSU.

MSU President Mark E. Keenum attended the retirement celebration at MSU’s Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville for Archie Tucker in observance of Tucker’s distinguished 51 year career with USDA’s Agricultural Research Service. Tucker retired as the Area Director for the Southeast Region. Keenum presented Tucker with a special chrome MSU cowbell to mark the occasion.

Mississippi State’s First Lady Rhonda Keenum this morning addressed 250 community college students and their advisors who were on MSU’s campus for the Phi Theta Kappa Regional Conference. The students, from both Mississippi and Louisiana two-year colleges, heard Mrs. Keenum discuss her time at Northeast Mississippi Community College as a PTK member and the path that her education, both at NEMCC and MSU, took her as she rose to become a senior White House staff member in the George W. Bush administration.
