If somebody fell asleep in 1896 and woke up today in 2026, they would simply say the only difference is now Negroes have a TV show and we wear nice suits. They they swapped out clan hoods for Brooks Brothers suits. And and that is the problem. I mean, Plessy v. Ferguson was 7-1 and it gave birth to 50 years of Jim Crow. What we have with this court right now, what we're seeing is is watching people who have fought and died and bled so that we would have access to the ballot box, so that we would have access to our voices being heard in Congress, being ripped away. And and I think that there is a casual laughter from people we believe to be our friends on the right who are showing us true colors today because the most sacred or one of the most sacred acts you have in the United States of America is the ability to cast a ballot and elect someone and send them to Congress, the state house or mayoral seat that represents your interest and now black folks throughout the South are being silenced.

There's an obvious reason why the Republican Supreme Court Justices sound so nervous. During their confirmation hearings, these justices sat under oath and promised that Roe v. Wade was settled law. They lied. They told us they were independent. Then they quietly accepted luxury mega-yacht vacations from right-wing billionaires, flew insurrectionist flags outside their homes, and used shadow dockets to dismantle decades of worker and environmental protections. Now, trying to persuade the public that a Republican-controlled Court issuing Republican-friendly decisions is not a Republican body has never been more difficult. Now that their public approval has cratered, they are showing up to fancy think tanks to complain that Americans are being unfair to them. They are desperately demanding to be treated like impartial umpires who simply call balls and strikes. But, ultimately, you do not get to strip away the bodily autonomy of millions of women, pocket millions in undisclosed gifts from conservative mega-donors, and then cry about a lack of respect.

BREAKING: In an incredible moment, Congressman Jim Clyburn just warned Republicans to be very careful with their gerrymanders across the south because it could backfire massively. This is a must watch.

#BREAKING: Marc Elias: “…the final thing which…for me was the hardest part, is watching the U.S. Supreme Court…see the chaos unfolding and   EXPEDITING the issuance of…the mandate…This is the thing that actually allows opinions…to go into force…it normally takes 32 days…but they EXPEDITED it…and that is in STARK CONTRAST…to how they have treated this in the past. When we and others have gone to the Supreme Court and said, look, Black voters are at risk here, we’ve been told no, you can’t rush these things.”🙄🤦‍♀️

He was sentenced to ten years. Republicans let him out after 6 months. Disgusting.

The fact that almost EVERY former confederate state is moving to completely eliminate Black representatives almost immediately after the SCOTUS decision should be more than enough proof that voting rights still need protection and racism is far from gone in this country.

Exactly. When Roberts was nominated to SCOTUS, I read every memo he wrote against the Voting Rights Act. If civil rights organizations knew one thing about him, it was his hostility to voting rights. We warned the U.S. Senate in no uncertain terms, but they confirmed him anyway.

@FurkanGozukara Hon, Trump isn't terrified; he's senile. His administration is throwing every distraction they can dig up at the public so that we won't notice that they're gutting the U.S. before this administration collapses under the weight of it's own corruption.
