When I comment on farm safety I’m often accused of being a member of the nanny state police or someone who doesn’t understand why farming is ‘just different’. Can every one of us reflect on just 1 thing. We make up 1% of the workforce & suffer 18.5% of all work related fatalities

@Izzyeames1 I’ve been there a few times over the last 20 years and the water shortage has been headlines all the while. It’s an amazing place to visit. The dairy lots were the biggest surprise to me (proper cows not almonds for milking)

An uneasy 185-mile drive along California’s fresh produce belt w/ <40% of US veggies,<90% of fruit & ALL almonds coming from here. From that soil, that was baking in the sun & blowing over the highway… all while the useable water is running out & urban-rural tension grows. #gulp

@RichardHarper17 @tractorman07 We’ve had the same. Very hit and miss. Going today to tidy up the last of the regrowth.

@tractorman07 I have had to overspray lots of fields. Some sprayed with 2kg roundup max, some 4lts 360 plus conditioner, it just hasn’t killed all the roots and is regrowing!!

Only problem we have on a few fields is blackgrass where one particular brand of glyphosate we used pre drilling has given awful results.

Thought it would be the conditions that stopped us, but technology got in first.

@NeddyFlanders11 @JohnDeere We bolt ours to the top of the toolbox and put an offset in. Can take it off from ground level then. Works for us.

Has anyone ever mentioned to @JohnDeere that falling off the top of a tractor whilst removing a #greenstar dome hurts. They need to share this pain. #farmsafetyweek

@Evsthetractor Sounds virtually the same as my own experience 9 years ago, thankfully only lost a few toes and a lot of movement. A frightening Illness with still not enough awareness of it.

@TBo39515440 Fever, incredibly high temperature (40.9 on admission) constant nausea,chronic joint stiffness and red blotchy skin. The stiff joints and blotches were the last to show.

@Eastcoastarable By far the most sensible approach, just lacking the muck at the moment. Was hoping for some biosolid to topdress on.

@muck_spreader We prefer the nicely applied manure method ahead of drilling. Obviously by a very reliable local contracting gang 😉

Buckwheat allegedly protecting the rape from CSFB. I assume it would have been far worse if it wasn’t there
