Allyson Felix 🇺🇸 is coming out of retirement at the age of 40!!!🤯 She announced a comeback, returning back to training with Bobby Kersee, with plans to target the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where she would be 42 years old. Felix said the decision is driven partly by the opportunity to compete in her “hometown” at LA 2028, calling it a “once-in-a-lifetime homecoming” and the only thing powerful enough to bring her back. Felix, a mother of two, said she understands she is not in “peak” condition but is motivated by the idea of attempting something bold despite her age, adding that she would rather try than look back with regret. She plans to begin racing again in 2027 and ramp up training, though she does not intend to travel widely for international competitions, choosing instead to stay close to her family. The announcement comes three years after her retirement following a career that included 11 Olympic medals, 7 of them gold, and multiple World Championship titles.
