@JustinBowen71 My son was 2 when we lost his dad. He was too young to understand anything about dates so instead of him knowing the date of his death, we celebrate his birthday instead because it felt more right for me to give him a date to celebrate, rather than a date to mourn each year x

#Grief. So in the end, the special days, the anniversaries, just become normal days. My late wife Helga would've been 42 today. In the past we've marked, celebrated or generally made something of this day, because it felt right. Today we let it pass by, because it felt right. 1/2

Traumatic grief taints absolutely everything. No matter how far down the road you feel you are with it, no matter how much processing and healing you've worked at, it settles over the areas of your life like a fine mist. Like a coating that somehow taints the shine

Absolutely brutal truth to have to tell our then 2 year old son that Daddy had died. I was desperate to protect him from it and still do everything I can to be both parents. We both still deal with the fallout from this every day of our lives

This from Winston's Wish is absolutely right. "Mummy has died." was possibly the hardest sentence I've ever had to say, but also one of the most important. I couldn't protect my children from the brutal truth, and I knew I had to speak it. #Grief #Bereavement

Being ill really brings the grief into focus. Ive managed to catch Covid (AGAIN)& its knocked me about again!What is hardest is seeing the fear in your son's eyes when he keeps checking on you. Because he equates being ill with losing his dad.5 year olds shouldn't have that fear

Thankfully, ive had a couple of rough days but it seems to have laid off my lungs this time (asthmatic).But wow, being "resilient"stuff is hard. I long for peace, not endless battle after battle. But that's part of the bill of grief, a debt that just pops up when least expected
