A massive congratulations to our very own Miss Knox who is officially the 'Fastest Teacher in the South West!' Running in the Bicton 10K at the weekend, she only went and smashed it! We are all incredibly proud of her! Go Miss Knox!! @The Maynard School.

To mark the end of a year supported by the National Literacy Trust promoting early reading in school, years 1,2 and 3 spent a fun-filled afternoon in Drake Circus celebrating all things reading - they even got to choose their own book to take home.

El and Ash #CleanourPatch came in to talk about the importance of picking up litter and the damage it can cause to animals and plants. They donated a 'Clean Up' set and will be back in June to do another Community Litter Pick. We have our School Ambassador Certificate!

Year 2 went to Holy Cross for a 'big sing' with other year 2 classes in the local area. They had a great time.

Year 2 &5 received a visit from Greenbank Firestation's Education Officer. She talked about 999 phone calls; bedtime safety routines: unplug, switch off, blow out; hoax calls; dangers in the home; fire alarms at home and the need to regularly test them.#Greenbankfirestation

As part of his visit to school today, The Lord Mayor, read a story to Years 1 & 2 as the school is part of the Young Reader's Programme @LiteracyTrust. Paddington Bear was enjoyed by all!

The Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Mark Shayer led our 'Dare to Dream' assembly. He explained the importance of persevering, working hard and having a go! The children asked quite challenging questions! The Lord Mayor was very impressed by their behaviour!@plymouthcc

Last week our wonderful year 6 pupils led this year's Remembrance Assembly. They presented a collection of poems, sang an emotional tribute song, and led a 2 minute silence. They laid a beautiful wreath and wore their poppies with pride.

Over the past 2 weeks all of our children have either visited Austin at Plymouth City Library or had a visit from the man himself! What a treat - They all came back full of ideas, stories and clutching a new book to share with their friends. Keep on reading Mount Street!

Musically minded Mount Street! This week many of our KS2 children took part in The Plymouth Music Festival. They played recorders, guitars and clarinets in groups and as solo performances and all performed superbly. Coming back with many wining top awards across all areas!
