I am thrilled to see our work “The Implementation of a Novel Adult Cancer Survivorship Curriculum in a Family Medicine Residency Program: A Mixed Methods Study” published. While the role of family physicians in providing cancer survivorship care is expanding, curricula for family medicine (FM) residents have largely remained unchanged. A novel mixed-methods cancer survivorship curriculum for FM residents, incorporating humanistic principles and a patient-as-teacher approach at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The program included virtual sessions on care pillars and long-term side effects of cancer treatment, followed by in-person discussions with patient-teachers. Evaluation through pre- and post-course surveys revealed residents initially had low confidence in their knowledge of cancer care. A focus group highlighted the positive reception of patient participation and provided suggestions for a more extensive program. The qualitative feedback indicated a strong need for enhanced cancer survivorship education for FM residents, with recommendations for expansion to other academic sites

Just published @JCO_ASCO Efficacy of Multimodal Psychological Interventions on Pain After Surgery in Breast Cancer Survivors: This Systematic review highlights the potential efficacy of multimodal psychological interventions in alleviating postoperative pain in this population. Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), despite being the most frequently studied intervention, was not found to produce statistically significant reductions in pain levels among breast cancer survivors.”
