My progress techies 👨‍💻 I just finished The Odin Project's Database course, and I'm well-versed with advanced queries for relational databases 🛢 I'm now getting into backend development as I continue to explore design patterns and architecture on the frontend 🌐 Just wow...🕺

And it's literally the same pattern used in huge platforms like Google, Stripe, and even X 🥱 The difference is mostly scale and structure, not the core idea 👨‍💻 And mostly they'll have added layers, including: - Routing - Controllers - Databases - Authentication - Middlewares

APIs aren't that complex after all...🫡 I just realized that creating a server using Express, I'm already tinkering with the fundamentals of APIs 📡 - receiving a request (req) - sending back a response (res) On the HTTPS communication channels. It's the core of web apps 🙌

@EOEboh Testing is hopelessly inadequate....(it) can be used very effectively to show the presence of bugs but never to show their absence.

@devisridhar AI companies built their systems based on data that humans painfully produced. They never even paid creators, authors, and everyone engaged in the content pipeline that brought content to the web.

Hard truth no one tells you is: You have to go through a grinding phase at least once in your life to succeed. And the trick is, the earlier you face it, the easier your life becomes. If you study hard and build a strong base in school, you sweep through difficult entrance exams later -> better opportunities. Otherwise, you’ve to grind during your JEE years and you get good opportunities later without much hustle. Miss that? you’ve to work hard for 4 years in college and you get to start your career with a good job. Miss that too? you’ve to juggle between your job and studies for better switch, much harder. The thing is, life keeps giving you chances. But the more you delay, more you lose the compounding effect and difficult it gets. Choose your hustle. Act fast. Act now.

@AngelofVerdant @munene254_ For some reason, you care about the "why" because you already understand the fundamentals. A junior vibecoder prompts for dopamine. There's a difference.

I actually found that AI has helped me learn better by helping me understand and re-inforce fundamental understanding with example”. My secret weapon for claude is , “ Explain to me like I am 10 why x and y is they way it is😃” Use AI to supercharge your learning not to bypass it
Njuguna Mureithi@mureithi_me

I think basic programming principles are still important. Practice makes perfect. Also know how to use AI as a tool. I think the market will start opening up again and junior to midlevel jobs will start showing up again as AI fatigue kicks in.

Guys Backend development looks glamorous from the outside. "Oh you work with databases and APIs? That sounds complex and important." Nobody tells you what the day to day actually feels like oo Here's the honest truth about backend development nobody says out loud 🧵

backend project ideas worth building: - task management api with real-time updates - markdown note system (think obsidian but yours) - code compiler api supporting c/c++/go - url shortener with analytics - chat backend using websockets - web scraper cli tool - auth service with jwt/oauth - file management system - expense tracker api - weather service aggregator start with one that matches your current tech stack. build it, break it, learn from it.

There’s a version of you that used to Google “how to center a div” at 1am and genuinely felt stupid for not knowing. That same person is now the one people come to with questions. But nobody talks about the phase in between. Where you understand just enough to break everything confidently. Where you’re not a beginner anymore but you’re definitely not senior either. That in-between place is uncomfortable, lonely, and honestly a little embarrassing sometimes 😭 It’s also exactly where you grow the most. The journey is quiet. It doesn’t announce itself. One day you just look back and realize you’re not the same person who was crying over a CSS bug at midnight. Don’t forget how far you’ve come. And don’t rush the gap, it’s working. 🤍

frontend isn't the best starting point for beginners in 2025 not enough jobs, too saturated, and frameworks change every other month backend, databases, systems programming (Rust, Go, Java) - that's where the real opportunities are learn the fundamentals first. build strong foundations in low-level concepts what do you think?

There was a gap in how transactions were handled. If something failed halfway, the application could complete one part and miss the other, leaving things inconsistent. The need for secure code training for devs especially in the era of vibe coding can’t be overstated.
