Why are Somali customers blocked from paying for digital services in the Apple ecosystem? Somalia is missing from Apple's list of supported payment regions. Somali banks, which are regulated, issue international Visa and MasterCard cards, fully supported by MasterCard. Yet Apple services, including the App Store, subscriptions, and developer accounts, do not process payments made with Somali-issued cards. This is not a technical limitation. It is a deliberate policy decision that locks millions of Somalis out of the global digital economy. Somali developers cannot publish apps. Freelancers cannot subscribe to tools. Students cannot pay for storage or services. We are connected to the world, but Apple keeps us out. If MasterCard recognizes Somali banks, why doesn’t Apple? Inclusion means more than selling devices. It means giving people the tools to build, create, and participate.
