Murakami Flower Project (unofficial)

Finally, the drop date is approaching. Looking back, I announced that I was going to drop my first NFT work on March 30 last year, but after just 11 days, I decided to withdraw, getting rather confused.

Bonnō, or kleshas, in Buddhist tenet, are mental states that disturb and trouble the mind and body, hindering wisdom, and there are supposedly 108 of them. 👉

👉 I wanted to create a metaphor for the differences between the grammar of Japanese painting and that of Western Europe.👉

👉 By the way, the title "727” in turn comes from advertisement signs that appear sporadically standing in fields and rice paddies when you ride the Shinkansen (bullet train), 👉

1. I am currently making the roadmap for Murakami.Flowers.

2. I think this roadmap may be a little different from those put forth by the forerunners of NFT art. (Or maybe it’s no different.)

3. In any case, I intend to present my plans one by one.

4. Murakami.Flowers is a work in which artist Takashi Murakami’s representative artwork, flowers, are expressed as dot art evocative of Japanese TV games created in the 1970s. 👉

👉 The work is being developed with the number 108 as the keyword; a combination of 108 backgrounds and flower colors make up a field, and there are 108 fields.👉

👉 Each field has 108 flower images, resulting in 11,664 flower images in total. The number 108 is a reference to bonnō, or earthly temptations. 🌸

5. By the way, this series of texts here are numbered, but basically it’s just my essay. So perhaps its content may not be the kind of thing people would want to discuss on Discord, for instance.

6. In the first place, art is a thought process to discern what is meaningful and to makes sense of what seems meaningless—not a concept that refers to the flow of residue that results after the thought, such as the product itself, or the awarding or trading of things.

7. And so I am constructing this roadmap not as a product description but with a hope that it will serve as a pictorial puzzle for breaking down Murakami’s artistic concept.

8. We contemporary artists stand far apart in the society from such real-world values and meanings, and I believe our job is to transmit messages from that singular position.

9. As such, the roadmap I am making may be hard to comprehend, and you may end up with question marks floating above your heads, or worse, some of you may erupt in irritation. You may ask: “Who do you think you are?”
