The House has already done its job, and I hope the Senate will fulfill its constitutional duty under the 1987 Constitution to forthwith convene as an impeachment court once the articles of impeachment are transmitted to it.

CAYETANO AS THE NEW SENATE LEADER Thirteen senators voted in favor of electing Alan Peter Cayetano as the new Senate President, replacing Tito Sotto. Meanwhile, nine senators voted for Sotto to continue leading the Senate, while two abstained. The Senate leadership changed as the House of Representatives voted to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte. The upper chamber, now led by Cayetano, is set to convene as an impeachment court for trial.
