Silly season 🚜🚜🚜

Weight heifers on Saturday after being outwintered, they averaged 358kgs. Over the 4 months they gained on average 120kgs/head on Interval(.5ac/hd), silage(1.2 bales/hd) & 1.5kg beef ration/hd/day. Very pleased especially considering how bad the winter was.

@athyfarmer @AgritechIreland They have constant access to an adjoining grass field. No need for it though, they spend all their time in the rape. Maybe as the winter goes on they’ll lie in the grass field, time will tell 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️. I agree the rules for forage crops are a bit nuts.

Weanling heifers loving life on their diet of good quality silage & Interval forage rape. Only a few days in the rape but already cleaning it out well. I put SugarBoost on all my silage, it really helps with quality & intake levels. #SugarBoost #Interval @AgritechIreland

@Williecarroll37 That turned out well 👍. Definitely graze it but introduce slowly, small section at a time.

Any tips on grazing the first grazing of new reseed multi species. Is it fit to graze now or leave it get heavier. It's about half way up the wellie.

@murph0801 Works perfectly. I’ll use the cross cutter to disc/roll the beans. Wait a few days after sowing before you disc.

Trying a bit of an experiment today, using the disc to roll the beans. Crosscutter discs are only down a few centimetres but are filling in the slots left by the Claydon nicely. I’ll use the roller on some too as a comparison. Fingers crossed it’s not a disaster 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
