Belfast in full colour. Set against the backdrop of the American Project Children programme in the 1990s, this love story tracks troubles across two marriages and pivots around the poignant events of the Shankill Bomb. Kindle Edition available to download today: amazon.co.uk/Road-Snugville… "Why had he not tried to kiss Annie under the peacock aura of a drowning Carrickfergus moon?" (This is the prequel to 'Snugville Street' and an adaptation of 'A Belfast Tale'). #belfast #NorthernIreland #ProjectChildren #Shankill #Troubles #LoveStory #WashingtonDC #Carrickfergus

Ella Gingles, the 20-year-old woman from Co. Antrim who took on the underworld of Chicago in 1909, exposed vice and government corruption, united the Orange and Green societies of Chicago and gave feminists the case they needed to demand new legislation to protect girls from sex trafficking. This blog is set up for a 5-minute read or a 1-hour read, depending on your interest. angelineking.com/blog/ella-ging… #NorthernIreland #Chicago #IrishHistory #Feminism #ChicagoHistory A true story about a remarkable woman.

My exhibition has launched at Carrickfergus Museum. It is called Bound by Threads, and introduces the design history of fraternal regalia from its origins in the 17th century, examining fabrics, construction, decoration and styles through time and in different countries.

The exhibition explores the meanings bound into these pieces of clothing and the ways in which an object can generate memory and identity. It includes handling objects and a replica Worshipful Master's cloak to try on (if you want).

Y’all, I’m doing research today on fashion magazines and catalogs from the 1880s and apparently there was a popular textile called “n*gger-head cloth.” This is the first time in my life I’m ever hearing of that, and now I need to know what it is. Text indicates some kind of wool.
