My exhibition has launched at Carrickfergus Museum. It is called Bound by Threads, and introduces the design history of fraternal regalia from its origins in the 17th century, examining fabrics, construction, decoration and styles through time and in different countries.

Drop in and see it. You are encouraged to share any memories or stories you have relating to regalia. The exhibition runs until 28th May.

The exhibition explores the meanings bound into these pieces of clothing and the ways in which an object can generate memory and identity. It includes handling objects and a replica Worshipful Master's cloak to try on (if you want).

Y’all, I’m doing research today on fashion magazines and catalogs from the 1880s and apparently there was a popular textile called “n*gger-head cloth.” This is the first time in my life I’m ever hearing of that, and now I need to know what it is. Text indicates some kind of wool.
