"Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage. You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail. Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates. Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you. And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again. And you're calling Greenland poorly run? Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no. 'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years. And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess. So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. They’ve got to stop giving this a platform without challenging the racism. Pauline Hanson sat through an interview on ABC Breakfast this morning and racially profiled an entire cultural group — painting people of Muslim faith as extremists and accounting for all the crime in Australia. And nobody challenged it. The data doesn’t support it. Not even close. As at June 2025, more than four in every five prisoners in Australia — 83% — were born in Australia. Foreign-born people are actually less likely to be imprisoned than people born in Australia. In 2017, foreign-born people made up 35% of the adult population but only 18% of the prison population. And remember — that 18% includes migrants from everywhere: England, New Zealand, Europe, Canada. The non-white, non-English-speaking migrants that Hanson is actually targeting make up an even smaller fraction of that already small number. According to ABS data, Indian, Chinese, English and Filipino migrants are all far less likely to be imprisoned than those born in Australia. Multiple studies reviewed by the Australian Institute of Criminology have consistently shown that people from migrant populations commit fewer crimes and are less likely to be imprisoned than the Australian-born population. In the US, where they track this data in even more detail, the findings are identical. Immigrants of all legal statuses commit crimes at lower rates than those born in the United States. Over a 150-year period, immigrants have never been incarcerated at a greater rate than US-born citizens. Today, immigrants are 60% less likely to be incarcerated. Even undocumented immigrants. The data is overwhelming and consistent across every western democracy that measures it. So when someone goes on national television and tells you that Muslims are responsible for crime in this country, ask yourself: where’s the evidence? Because the data we do have tells a very different story. And let’s be honest about what this really is. Pauline Hanson is completely fine with English-speaking, white migrants. Her targets are black and brown people. Always have been — whether they’re Muslim, whether they’re Aboriginal, whether they’re seeking asylum. She creates a common enemy out of people who don’t look like, talk like, or think like what she considers the average Australian. She taps into people’s fear of difference and weaponises it for political gain. This entire country has been built on migration, including, might I add, Hanson’s own background. This idea that the only people you need to be fearful of are black and brown people and immigrants is not just racist — it’s the exact playbook that’s tearing the US apart. And it’s where this country is headed if media keep platforming it unchallenged.
