I am unashamed to say I absolutely love what generative AI is doing for my research. Questions that took years to answer are now answered in days. Join me and @EjSobo for an exciting conversation on how to leverage AI for better teaching and learning: aaa.underline.io/events/432/rec…

I just started a new YouTube channel focusing on the World's Religions. Lots of mini-docs exploring different religions coming soon ... youtube.com/watch?v=Gc6TrS…

@tbirdcymru Yeah, it's so fun and amazing. I really think it will help students find key information.

@mwesch Oh wow! I didn't know this either! Thanks for offering your tutorial:-) (BTW I saw you speak at ALT conference in the UK several years ago:-))

I might be late to the party here, but I just discovered that PowerPoint can make animated gifs. Along with the morph transition, this is a total game-changer for my online teaching this semester. Working on a tutorial now if you are interested (youtube.com/mwesch)

I have decided to publicly share all of the main content from my World Religions class this semester. I will also be doing some behind-the-scenes and tutorial videos. Any requests or recommendations? Here is the "trailer" youtube.com/watch?v=h2X0wU…

@ManuelScott Welcome to Manhattan! I am excited for my 2 boys to learn from you today.

We can't color-code our syllabus / modules in Canvas, but we can use emojis. Windows logo key + . on Windows, Control-Command-Space on Mac. #onlinelearning #teachinghack #humanizeol

@rbanow @mckc1 @JRDingwall @cubs20161908 @stevestoneky They can choose which one they want to do each week.
English

@mckc1 @mwesch @JRDingwall @cubs20161908 @stevestoneky They're visible to all. They post in a Discussion, as with the other group, but there is no expectation that they read or reply to one another
English

@JuanArmellini @gamerlearner Both discussions and reflections are given weekly feedback from me and the TA/tutor, mostly with suggestions and advice for how to add more depth and nuance if necessary.
English

@gamerlearner @mwesch Oh, absolutely. I’m saying one option seems to receive a form of feedback by default when engaging.
The other makes you fly solo (dare I say, allows u to write squat ‘cos nobody checks it).
For me, reflections can’t be optional & should build towards assessed work at the end.
English

@cubs20161908 @stevestoneky It's pretty simple. I created a group set in Canvas with 2 groups, one named "Discussion Group" and the other "Reflection Group" and set it so students can self-select into the group they want. Here is the first prompt:

@mariaballesola Probably all of those things, and one more is that some students might actually find online classes better. For many students they had not really experienced any online classes pre-covid. Now they have, and at least some of them prefer it.
English

@mwesch Same observation on my end Mike - same course, 2 sections, online filled up in 2 weeks, F2F at 50% capacity five weeks later.. interested in discussing the why's - convenience? flexibility? saving the commute and parking fees? moved out of the area? easier to pass?
English

@rw_161803399 Intro to World Religions. No way to cheat in this class though. Lots of activities, discussions, and reflections.
English

@mwesch What type of courses are these? Major? Intro? I'm becoming increasingly concerned about students making choices about ease of cheating given the growth of Chegg, Wyzant, etc.
