A key factor in House Bill 41 passing was an amendment inserted yesterday that indemnifies the PIAA from being sued in court if the PIAA ever did have separate playoffs. Most of the no votes in 178-23 margin came from Philly area.

House Bill 41 that allows the PIAA to have separate playoffs for boundary and non-boundary schools passed the House today by - get this - a vote of 178-23. That's overwhelming. It now goes to Senate. A vote in Senate could happen by June. I'll have story with comments shortly.

I don't know if this has ever happened. If so, it can't be often. In game Saturday night, Cole Young (North Allegheny grad) of Mariners and J.J. Wetherholt (Mars) of Cardinals hit home runs. 2 former WPIAL players homering in same game. And they went to schools 10 miles apart.
