YouTube flew me out to Switzerland this week Life is crazy man. I’ve been obsessed with YouTube for 10+ years and now I get to work directly with YouTube/Google on secret stuff Huge thanks to anyone who watched my videos, supports my tweets, etc. Love you guys :)

AI thumbnails actually do pretty decent on YouTube! It doesn’t really matter how much people say they hate it. The average person can’t really tell the difference haha But yeah, of course, what’s inside of the video matters a lot, but to even get to that point, the person has to click on it first

@mws Also matters what's inside the video it's self. If the content does not match the title or thumbnail that's a double whammy. People think an Ai thumbnail and a random title is gonna get views.

Harsh advice for YouTubers: It doesn’t matter how good your video is if your Thumbnail + Title suck If viewers never Click, they never Watch.. If they never Watch, then no one sees how hard you worked on that video

@robertoblake @Jamesonhertz Yup, fully agree. I posted about this a few days ago!! The idea is the most important, followed by the thumbnail + title, followed by how the video is edited

CREATORS If you get bored watching your own videos, your viewers will too So edit them until you enjoy sitting through it Most creators never do this, but that’s why most stay small

@bestisTV It's 100% hard, which is why sometimes it's good to just have your friends watch your video with you while you're editing it and giving raw and honest feedback

@mws I’ve learned over time that this is one of the, if not the MOST difficult aspect of learning to be a better editor We’re innately biased towards our own content, so trying to step into the shoes of the viewer and predict where a drop would happen is HARD bro

@mws I edit the intro then nothing else that’s why my longs used to stay around 5k while shorts blew up

@jordanerschwarz When would you tell a small creator to start diversifying? When is the right time to do that? Because I agree, but sometimes I feel like it's better to be focused on one thing before u diversify too heavily

@mws This is true. Your videos have to be engaging enough for people to watch them. Also, creators stay small because they don't diversify. (Speaking from experience, trust me)

My honest advice is that playthroughs in the current stage of YouTube are just really difficult Back in the day, if you uploaded a playthrough for really any game, there's a good chance that it was going to perform decently, but these days so many people do that where it's kind of hard Playthroughs done by established creators still do well, but it's pretty rare to see a playthrough do well from a newer creator So usually, if you want to play through games, you need to find cool ways to market them, kind of like how a lot of people will do the thing on PlayStation where they try Platinum-ing a game The whole 'I platinum'd GAMEHERE' series that you see on YouTube, it is a unique spin on playthroughs

@mws My biggest issue with this and games is.. If its a game "playthrough" ... by editing them, dont you risk ruining the playthrough? If someone wants to see a game in its entirety. Then editing means its no longer a playthrough and they miss many things that happen from cut to cut.
