The American College of Pediatricians just put out a 🔥🔥🔥 statement calling out all the major medical associations by name for pushing the gender transition craze on kids. They ask for these groups to "IMMEDIATELY stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex." The full @ACPeds statement ⬇️ "Therefore, given the recent research and the revelations of the harmful approach advocated by WPATH and its followers in the United States, we, the undersigned, call upon the medical professional organizations of the United States, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the  Endocrine Society, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to follow the science and their European professional colleagues and immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.  Instead, these organizations should recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria. There should be an AED at every hotel in America. Allow me to rant for a second… I was at an event this evening at the @EmbassySuites when an older man has a syncopal event, became diaphoretic and had snoring respirations. As I evaluated him I asked someone to call 911 and asked my wife to go find an AED in the hotel. Come to find out that this hotel opted not to carry an AED, in order to “minimize their risk.” This a direct statement from their employee. To our luck @HatzalahSoFla happened to be in the building attending a wedding on the other side of the hotel. They did an amazing job stabilizing the patient (whose HR was in the 20’s). In Broward County we mandated AEDs in city ordinances in 2018 and have broad coverage because of it. It’s clear we have to do this in @pbcgov next. #DoBetter
