It’s a slumber party at the Ithumba stockades! Listen closely and you might even hear soft elephant snores from its newest additions: Toto, Natibu, and Mwinzi, who only graduated to the unit last week. You might notice a fourth elephant standing in the boys’ room. This is their very special roommate, who’s helped them settle into their new home. Perhaps it was the big skies or unfamiliar sounds, but Mwinzi, Toto, and Natibu were initially restless at night. Kinyei, despite being stabled on the other side of the compound, was clearly concerned about the boys. We invited her to share their room and her presence had an immediate effect. Now, all three sleep peacefully at her feet, with mama Kinyei watching over them.
