A (very late) Parley prompted by @spaceysarah_ about my favorite moments with the Warframe community! This one was fun! One of the joys of Parley is tackling topics I wouldn't have otherwise. Anyway this is basically a little podcast, enjoy if you like: youtu.be/HKBXgHEXO1k

Tasting the thing. Would be great to have a lot of, it's not a fatiguing taste that you'd get overwhelmed by.

Today I'm having this ripe puerh tea inside a dried orange. It's got holes in it so you can brew it pour over style to limit the intensity of the orange peel flavor. The flavor is surprisingly normal, like a less bitter earl grey. The color is less normal:

Progress has been made on some longer projects, including the next step for XandyPants videos and the whole buildcrafting daily life thing re: beans. As you can see, my bean level has increased considerably.

@gr33nj3ster I do want it toasted, but the idea of using cream cheese or some such to secure the seeds is fun! I may try doing that and then toasting just the cut side in a pan, for example.

Have you been in this situation before? You're eating breakfast, and it's a very round breakfast. There's a hole in the center of your breakfast, and it is not a very sweet breakfast. You're eating that food and it has a certain topping on it.. (please read on)

@himboposting the process of making that slurry I mentioned is very similar to what you'd do to bloom coffee. I think this is a right-for-the-wrong-reasons thing; it seems like doing what you do to bloom coffee also helps form a level bed, so it's still useful even when blooming isn't.

@himboposting Of note is that blooming (getting the coffee wet for a short while before pouring the bulk of your water in) shouldn't be necessary for this type of brewer (CO2 coming out won't inhibit brewing the same way it might in an open-bottom brewer), but..

Beeg Beeg cone. Making some coffee in this size 03 V60 brewer (the black bit is the Hario Switch) and tryna get a flat bed. The flatter it is, generally the better it tastes, because no grounds get particularly over-extracted. This was..

Still pretty tasty result though, it's all relative; this bed isn't a disaster, it's just not great. I do think this larger size makes it harder, I normally brew in a size 01 (that's got only a third of the volume of this one). Anyway, happy brewing!

Well as you saw it wasn't great. This coffee (a dark-roasted natural from Brazil, roasted about three weeks ago now) has been sticking to the sides a lot, and even after starting with a gentle swirl to level the bed and steady pouring, it ain't exactly flat.
