I'm a mom to an 11 month old And for several reasons, I don't have childcare A few weeks ago I was invited to be on a panel at the EvrythingAfrica Summit My husband was supposed to watch the baby, but he ended up having to work I could have cancelled But I took my daughter with me I was the only person there with a kid She's clingy So I asked the hosts if I could bring her on stage with me But before I went up, she couldn't keep her hands of my mic, which was going to be an issue on stage So I had one of the volunteers hold her The volunteer was amazing. My daughter had a ball and ended up falling asleep before the end of my panel Why am I sharing this story? To encourage moms to never give up on their dreams Be in spaces that accommodate you and your children You can be a mom and pursue the career you desire Be the woman your children will aspire to be
