@tiffanytee_ Please don't throw your menstrual clots at us. Also, while clotting during periods is both normal and essential, if you experience excessive pain, notice clots that are larger than usual, or bleed very heavily, please consult a doctor.
@tiffanytee_ Our caption LITERALLY says that odour is normal, but if you experience pelvic pain and a stronger odour, go to a doctor. Not trying to sell something here, except maybe education.
@derangedivine and to educate them that in case the odour is too strong and is accompanied by pain, they should see a doctor. Agreed, we should have worded it better. But it wasn’t written for a population that speaks English as their first language. 2/3
@derangedivine Genitals, like every body part, do have an odour. So does a period. The purpose of this post is to merely promote good menstrual hygiene because unfortunately, many menstruators still do not know how often to change their period wear or keep themselves clean during periods 1/3
@andrachuk@DrJenGunter worded it better. But it wasn’t written for a population that speaks English as their first language. Words like stink/stench and foul odour don’t have a vast difference in our vocabularies. The intention of this post was to promote good menstrual hygiene. That's it. 2/2
@andrachuk@DrJenGunter It is not a claim. We really are trying to destigmatize periods in India. This post was a mere piece of educative information to let people know that while some odour during periods is normal, a strong, foul smell can be a sign of infection. Agreed, we should have 1/2
@DrJenGunter However, we probably should have worded it better. Stink/stench should have been ‘strong odour’. We will keep in mind that the terminology we use can help us reflect our intentions much better. 4/5
@DrJenGunter The purpose of this post, was to merely educate people about the workings of the human body, how to keep oneself cleaner and more hygienic while on periods, and inform people to keep an eye out for any irregularities. 3/5
@DrJenGunter on how to maintain proper hygiene during periods. But, we noticed that the post received some criticism from groups who clearly misunderstood us. Periods do have a smell. And, if the smell is stronger than usual, then it could be a cause for concern. 2/5
@DrJenGunter A couple of days back we did a post asking our followers if their period stinks. The intention of the post was to address the issue of menstrual hygiene and offer tips to keep the vulva clean during periods, because unfortunately even today, there is a major lack of awareness 1/5
Bleeding goes beyond gender. It’s not a women’s issue but a human rights issue! If soap doesn’t have a taboo around it, why then a taboo around menstrual products?
