Harry Kane opens the scoring against Spurs 11 minutes in. A ball over the top is controlled superbly by the England captain before he rifles a low shot inside the left-hand post from just inside the box. No celebration from the former Tottenham man. football.london/tottenham-hots…

@BenSteiner00 This can’t be real. How unprofessional. Get someone who knows what they’re talking about. I could’ve rocked up with no script and made sonny feel less uncomfortable than this

@Football_LDN @AlasdairGold Why is there a huge difference in the amount of players we have on big wages compared to the other big clubs?

Sonny, I think I can speak on behalf of all Tottenham fans - words cannot truly express what you mean to this fanbase.
After scoring three in your first week with the club back in 2015, two on your debut at the lane, we knew you were going to be different.
Since then, every run, every goal, every assist, every dribble, every nutmeg, every piece of silk - we saw it, we felt it, and we’ll never forget it.
But you were more than just a world-class footballer, it was your warm smile, energy and humble nature that warmed you to this fanbase.
Great players are ten to the dozen, great humans are much more rare in this day and age. But we’ve seen you. How you carry yourself, how you interact with others; playing with your teammates children, taking time with the fans, sacrificing personal relationships to give your all for club and country. You’re one hell of a human.
But what made you different, what made you ours, was your loyalty. You never once gave up on us. Never flirted with the exit door. When the club was at its lowest, when you were in huge demand, when uncertainty swirled and others walked, you stayed. You didn’t just stay, you committed, you signed, you chose us. And in that moment, for many, regardless of what came after it, you became a true Tottenham legend.
But for the avoidance of doubt, you weren’t finished. You looked at this club, these fans, and still believed. After so many near misses, and after almost 20 years, you ended our trophy drought, leading us to European glory. Our first UEFA cup in over 40 years. You did what many said could not be done at Spurs.
That wasn’t just a trophy for us, for this club, you’ve changed our mentality, our DNA, the status quo. We can all feel it. Once Spursy, now winners, you did that, and we are all truly thankful.
Whilst this is an incredibly sad moment for all of us, and for you especially, there couldn’t have been a better time to leave. With your head held high, trophy in hand.
A true legend of this football club in all senses of the word.
What a journey.
What a player.
What a man.
We’ll miss the goals, the assists, the dribbles - but most of all, we’ll miss you.
Thank you for everything.
We love you.
And always will.
Captain. Leader. Legend.
Nice one Sonny.
