SPOILERS🚨 The real horror of Obsession isn’t Nikki it’s Bear Because Bear represents a kind of horror that is very real for so many women. Men whose ego obsession entitlement and need for control can completely ruin your life and alter your future forever. He did not love Nikki he just loved the idea of her and the fantasy of being chosen. The possession and after seeing the damage he caused his first instinct was not to end it but to find a way to still get what he wanted. That “what’s so bad about loving me” line while she’s literally begging to die says everything because that was never love That was entitlement That was selfishness That was obsession The real monster was Bear I’m not sure how some people try to have empathy and sympathy for a whole rapist. His ending didn’t even seem like guilt to me. Nikki shattered the fantasy he built in his head. The version of her he thought he “loved” was never real because he never actually saw her as a person. Once that delusion fully cracked and he had to face what he had done and who he really was he couldn’t handle it.
