@alisonleary1 @RdgCardoso There are benefits from replacing the current chaotic paper and telephone based systems which consume a lot of nursing time. Better use of this time mitigates any additional patient volume you mention. It is about worker smarter not harder.

MTW has an excellent IT system which tracks patients, allocates beds, porters etc. It helps flow through the system - vital this winter - and could be a template for other trusts and systems.

Today I visited the Care Coordination Centre @MTWnhs Maidstone, where staff use real time data to track bed availability to maximise efficiency. This innovative approach has reduced the time a bed stays empty from nearly three hours to one, reducing waits for patients.
