This is what transpired between me and Kimani’s goons. My shop is located a few metres away from the Affordable Housing site. Kimani had come to inspect the houses. One senior police officer who was escorting him recognised me and told Kimani, “Ndio ule cop shakur.” They all turned and looked at me as I was walking towards my shop while using my phone. As usual, whenever Kimani goes to a public place, he is accompanied by goons. Within seconds, I saw several men approach and attack me, demanding to know what I was recording. They forcefully demanded my phone and password. One of them twisted my hand while the senior police officer watched from a distance without saying anything. I could not argue with them. I gave them my phone, which they checked and found nothing. Throughout the incident, they kept referring to me as “blogger wa Kimani Wamatangi,” saying, “Umekuja kuharibia mheshimiwa jina?” After finding nothing on my phone, they threw it back to me and left. I reported the matter at Kikuyu Police Station, but I do not expect any action to be taken because everyone fears Kimani.
