The inaugural Chhattisgarh Open this week in Raipur is an incredibly proud moment for me personally. Most of my early years were spent in the State, which was then part of Madhya Pradesh. In small coal mine towns, I grew up like Mowgli in The Jungle Book, surrounded by wild animals and lush forests. Not a day went by when our house was not visited by snakes, foxes, monkeys, hyenas, bears, and the most exotic species of wild birds. So, I do not kid that apart from the occasional pictures of Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros in the @sportstarweb (which would arrive more than a week late), I had no idea of golf. And then, cut to the present day, we are having a @pgtofindia golf tournament in Raipur, a place where I studied in a boarding school (Rajkumar College) for three years. This is amazing progress and truly exemplifies today’s modern India. Aman Raj wins the #JaipurOpen for a second time - 28-year-old Aman Raj from Patna secured the #JaipurOpen title for the second time in his career at Rambagh Golf Club today. Aman carded rounds of 65-66-64-66, resulting in a stellar total score of 19-under par, outshining the competition and clinching victory. Notably, this marked Aman's third triumph of the season, propelling him to the coveted second position on PGTI's Order of Merit. As Aman eyes further accomplishments, his outstanding performance also positions him favorably for a significant opportunity. If he maintains this ranking after the upcoming Tata Steel Tour Championship next week, he stands to qualify for an exemption into the Final Stage of the DPWT Q-School in 2024.
