@fullydavid legitimate concerns raised, but the sneeringly dismissive attitude towards trans identity and other evolving perspectives of experienced reality is hardly heterodox sensemaking.

@fullydavid Just watched this and I’m really struggling to see any synthesis at all…it’s an almost fundamentalist perspective of rational naturalism, with zero ‘pushback’ that amplifies a ‘signal’ of Rebel Wisdom’s anti ‘Woke Agenda’ diatribe. Which is not to say that there are no…

I think this might be one of the most significant pieces we've put out in a while. I had a feeling that Mary and Paul would work well together, and I think they're really onto something - a nascent synthesis of dissident right & left. Very interesting.
Rebel Wisdom@WisdomRebel

Wonderful, rich and thought provoking conversation between Paul Kingsnorth and Mary Harrington, inching towards a very important synthesis position..? @moveincircles @fullydavid youtu.be/x4kms2jkKbA

@HowtoADHD Two scenes from The Matrix - the “Get…Up…Trinity” one and when Neo is in the Subway and turns around to face Agent Smith…even doing something small can feel heroic if I can change my perspective 😁

What do you to help you break out of rumination/thought spirals? How do you focus when your brain just *can’t* put something down? I might use your comment in a video!

Are we going to come up with a better word than "heterodox" or has it just been settled on by now?

Set stereotypical Britishness to absurd level. -But sir… that level of smugness it’s never been achieved… God damn it man, I said do it! And while you at it bring hard right dog whistling to ludicrous. -Good Lord, you can’t be serious?!? As her Majesty is my witness, I am!

@fullydavid Exactly. That reluctance in and of itself warrants criticism. The IDW undermines its proselytising by not sitting down with its critics IS a huge problem and it’s totally appropriate and actually necessary to say so.

@nameless_dave True. Some do this. See Jesse Signal going on the Voidpod, Sam Harris deserves credit for going on DTG also. As I've said many times, the fact that the IDW supposedly framed themselves as willing to have difficult conversations and then rarely doing it, was a huge issue.

Fair comment, mine was a hasty reply to the previous commenter arguing any debates would be a distraction from the "aims of DTG". Anyone who read the piece I wrote knows I don't think criticism is the same as gossip, though I have a different set of norms from journalism...
Chris Kavanagh@C_Kavanagh

This is a point I think David repeatedly gets wrong. Critically commenting on material is not ‘gossiping’. Nor is face to face debate inherently a better medium, indeed it’s much more likely to be skewed by interpersonal dynamics, obfuscation, and politeness.

@fullydavid If they only show up for interviews where they definitely won’t feel like they’re misrepresented and judged then aren’t they speaking from what they already think and not being challenged or growing?

And my irritation with the commenter saying debate was a distraction, was that only 'talking about' rather than 'talking to' by definition means we're only speaking from what we already think, and not being challenged and growing. It's a closed system...

@HowtoADHD Started meds (vyvanse) a few days ago, still getting used to it but really hard with the results so far! Found your channel and it’s SUPER helpful, thank you! Trying to find well regarded coaching resources in the U.K. 🤯 any advice would be massively appreciated! 😁

@fullydavid @jor_nz Deliberately pulling punches so that the show doesn’t get blacklisted by a certain close knit group doesn’t seem to further sense making though - surely there are positions that must be vocally rejected if you think that they don’t hold up?

@jor_nz I've put out plenty of pieces critical of Peterson, not as critical as the haters would like, but will post below. I've got more criticisms of JBP, and would like to put them to him face to face, as I did with Chris, rather than go straight to talking *about* someone as DTG does

@fullydavid I follow @WisdomRebel and @GurusPod quite closely and it seems quite clear that both channels encourage engagement of thought in the viewer. The people they review have their own platforms from which to address any issues that are raised.

I've tried to make criticisms to the person's face. At the very least include their response as right of reply before publication (as I did with the article about DTG). Their approach isn't invalid, but it doesn't exactly inspire engagement, trust or dialogue.
Jacinta O'Reilly@jor_nz

@fullydavid Analysing published content is "talking about"? Critique is walled off to those with access to the writer?

funny that the Chancellor's wife's non-dom tax avoidance is off limits for public scrutiny but when my boyfriend was out of work needing Universal Credit the state was more than happy to take my meagre income into account. one rule for the Tories, wealthier than we can imagine.

@nameless_dave @mortonuk2005 @BeckettUnite Life experience, independence, an actual grasp of politics. I'm not just against the voting age being lowered, I'm against the universal right to vote, those who do not possess any grasp of pooitics, do not know shay they are voting for, that's why voting is tribal.

The monarchy; the honours system; private education; the voting system; denying 16 year olds the vote; the House of Lords; the Westminster centric power bases. All exist to keep power with the elite & to deny ordinary people their rights. Time to rip it all up.

@codeysharp @mortonuk2005 @BeckettUnite Thanks for the response, it’s informative. With that in mind, what do you think it would take for 16 year olds to make an informed decision about their future in terms of leadership and political direction?

@nameless_dave @mortonuk2005 @BeckettUnite Yes, I was fully informed, I'm from a military family, also, tye recruitment processes ensures that recruits are fully informed, hence why there are drop outs. Before, for instance, you actually enlist, one has to complete ADSC, for the army, and tests.

@mortonuk2005 @BeckettUnite You don't know very much about the military, do you? Unlike yourself, I actually joined the Army at 16, so I know what I'm talking about, you don't. For instance, under 18s can't be deployed on overseas operations.
