Spanish speaker creators always have to accommodate to English speakers when they demand translations but when is the other way around we get called annoying and whiny

This Toby Fox drama is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. The most spoken language after English *by far* is Chinese so if this was about accessibility ppl would be calling for a Chinese translation but they're not cuz the actual complaint is not personally being catered to.

@morphangell I’m not saying that. I’m saying you’re not entitled to someone else’s art IF they made it within a certain cultural context and language and are thus unwilling to have it translated without their involvement so as not to compromise their vision. It’s THEIR work!

Unpopular take maybe? But the idea that art made within one culture MUST be made accessible to every other group is absurd and anti-art.
I mean us Turkish speakers have even less translations than Hispanophones, yet I’ve never seen the equivalent of this meltdown in Turkey?

Of all the Toby Fox discourse, this is the one that really got me. This is truly the thing that defines the conflict. People who speak in native english are incapable of understanding what it's like to have most art NOT made for your native language. It's baffling to me.

Decir esto cuando casi no hay traducciones en polaco, suizo alemán, ruso, chino, holandés, etc... mientras el español es de los más localizados y encima con 2 variantes (castellano y latino). Critican a los americanos por no salir de su burbuja y están igual que ellos.

Que un desarrollador no tenga como prioridad una localización a tu idioma no significa que valgas menos o te odie.
Cuando creas un proyecto te centras en prioridades, y la prioridad de Toby Fox es sacar a flote el proyecto de su vida. Es respetable, aunque no nos guste.

@Monki_doodles i think this literally all stems from a mistranslation 😭 there was a tweet that blew up massively that translated tobys posts, and they said that toby said "NO TRANSLATIONS FOR PORTUGESE OR SPANISH" (incorrect), and it also said it was because he couldn't achieve his (1/2)

Veo a mucha gente sacando esto de proporción, como si Toby dijera que odia a Latinoamérica, cuando solo da entender que es difícil una traducción porque tendría que revisarla a fondo y eso implica tiempo.

i dont think its okay for fans to harass a creator to force them to do something they've never planned to do nor want to do, no matter how much you say you care about their creation.
