I think true “red” people - meaning conservatives, generally just want to live their lives and don’t want to be politicians or involved in all the corruption. Politicians by and large are in it for the power and money and generally are not conservative and don’t really have any principles other than “what’s in it for me” (though they pretend to be conservative (or even Republican) while campaigning.). Liberals like to control others so being a politician where they get to decide how other people should live is right up their alley which is why there are so many democrats that actually do the crappy stuff they campaign on. It’s really the differences of the two types of people. Also many of those involved in politics simply think they’re so smart - which of course they by and large are not.

For the life of me, I don't understand why this realization on the right that they will never have the votes to pass anything federally does not spawn a revolution of focus, money, and NGOs to go pedal to the mettle in red state primaries for gov, AG, and legislature where we should have the votes if not for fake Republicans. Yet, instead Trump is endorsing the very problematic people even for STATE office.
