An underrated detail in Attack of the Clones is Anakin's consistent dedication to chivalry:

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED AT THE ENHANCED GAMES.. Peter Thiel and Donald Trump Jr. spent millions to create a steroid Olympics. They promised to "redefine human limits" and put up $25M in prize money. After 5 hours in Las Vegas, here’s the scoreboard: - 1 world record (not recognized by anyone) - Thor Björnsson failed his 515kg deadlift (managed only 475kg) - olympic sprinter Fred Kerley missed the 100m WR by 0.4s - without even taking drugs - the only "record" came from a Greek swimmer who finished 5th at Paris 2024. He wore a supersuit banned since 2009 and beat the clean record by just 0.07s the whole pitch was that drugs would shatter the limits of clean sport. instead they proved the gap between juiced and clean is now 7 hundredths of a second - in a suit banned 17 years ago. the only thing they actually proved was how good the clean athletes already are. You think the Enhanced Games exposed anything or just embarrassed themselves?

JUST IN: The only world record broken at the Enhanced Games will reportedly not be recognized by official authorities.

I once met a woman at a bar. Not only was she hot as fuck, but she liked anime, and we hit it off really well. She invited me over to her house. I knew what she wanted. You don't invite a man to your house for any reason but one, and I wasn't stupid enough to say no. I don't think a straight man alive would. We got to her house, and it was a mess. I would call it a pig-sty, but that would have insulted the pigs. You could not see the ground because it was covered in garbage. Needless to say, the moment I saw her place, I left and never looked back. I don't care how hot a person is, I have too much self-respect to date someone who lives like the words 'environmental hygiene' don't exist.

@chakravartiiin they are still desensitizing the masses for his death, and making the 'attempts' useful by spinning looney tunes narratives

@nardorum A "narrative structure" that makes no sense and "photography" and "cinematography" that consists of 90 percent green screens because Lucas was too much of a fat, lazy slob to shoot on location

Zoomers get stroppy when anyone points out how bad the Star Wars prequels were because they're incapable of distinguishing between something they personally like and something that is good. It's the same reason they hate RedLetterMedia, because RLM nuked George Lucas from orbit and his reputation never recovered. They have to pretend that the prequels were good, ACKSHUALLY, because of good box office numbers, as if popularity is the sole metric of quality. People were complaining about the prequels from day one. Here's an article Maddox wrote about REVENGE OF THE SITH that was published in *2005.* It's entirely possible to like something that is bad. B-movies survive for this reason. Thing is, nobody who watched ELVIRA'S MOVIE MACABRE or got dressed up to throw spoons at the screen during a midnight showing of THE ROOM deluded themselves into thinking they were enjoying high art. The entire appeal of those movies IS how bad they are. The Star Wars prequels are very much in that category thanks to their nonsensical plots, terrible acting (Lucas and the Wachowskis are the absolute best at getting A-list actors and squeezing terrible performances out of them), and terrible dialogue. Yes, we're going to be making fun of Anakin talking about sand until the end of time. The opposite is also true: it's possible to hate something that is good. Denis Villeneuve makes films that are technically proficient, well-written, and GOOD but are also boring and forgettable. I think BLADE RUNNER 2049 is a great film, but I've fallen asleep every time I've tried to rewatch it. I tried watching DUNE PART 1 on a flight from Warsaw to NYC, fell asleep 45 minutes in, woke up during the last hour, and felt like I missed nothing. Lynch's DUNE is terrible, but it's at least MEMORABLE. Nobody forgot the "shield practice" scene or Baron Harkonnen drinking a catamite's blood after getting his AIDS boils drained. Nothing in Villeneuve's films, GOOD as they are, has that level of impact. A decade ago, the Coen brothers put out HAIL CAESAR, an homage to 50s epics that was both scathing and sympathetic. They drew on their own experience watching a lot of dumb spectacle movies from that era, like CLEOPATRA, growing up. Joel Coen remarked something to the effect of, "We loved those movies as kids, we just didn't know we were watching crap." Star Wars prequel defenders have failed to make that leap of maturity, which is why we're going to hear about REVENGE OF THE SITH being a GRATE MOVIE---when it would struggle to make the top 1,000---until the end of time.

@mattforney The prequels were amazing. Revenge of the Sith is one of the best movies of all time.

Terrible dialogue aside, it's still insanely funny that the climactic duel between the main character and villain of the show directly references and relies on the unfinished Clone Wars Boba Fett episodes that never aired. The relationship between Cad Bane and Boba Fett can only be understood if you have some knowledge of Clone Wars arcs that never existed and I think that's a good example why so many people who never watched the animated shows are slowly turning away from Star Wars.

I guess this shot from Andor is supposed to be a metaphor for the oppressive blade of patriarchy cutting a woman off from her loving, progressive mother, and giving her over to the domination of a strange man, in the antiquated custom known as "traditional marriage." A beautiful message, to be sure. It really makes you think. But at the same time, I think it's a little inappropriate for a teenage actress to be baring her neck like that in a knife play scene. For Christ's sake, Tony Gilroy, this isn't the 70s anymore. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, I guess. Anyway, as usual, I think this shot from Attack of the Clones is better. We start with Padme accepting Anakin's robotic hand in marriage, which can be taken as either moving or unsettling, creating some very interesting Romantic--or Gothic--overtones. We then pan up to see the light of the setting sun glowing through Padme's bridal veil and playing on the braids hanging down over her breast. Finally we come to rest on the faces of the lovers, moving in closer and closer for the kiss as the sunlight continues to create a halo-like glow around them. I think this is a much richer and more beautiful depiction of the power and danger of marriage--powerful because love is powerful; dangerous because you are making a solemn decision to commit yourself to someone fully, with all their flaws and weaknesses.

no actually Disney needs to mandate that, in order to work on a Star Wars project, you need to have seen every Kurosawa film, the entire Budd Boetticher Ranown Cycle, and all three Flash Gordon serials from 1936-1940
Jen🦋@JennyC97x

Disney need to mandate that, in order to work on a Star Wars project (whether it be a movie or show) you need to have watched all movies, and all of the Clone Wars and Rebels as a bare minimum.
