Very good discussion with Canadian PM @MarkJCarney today.
We talked about strengthening the 🇮🇪-🇨🇦 political, economic and social relationship.
I updated the PM on our good progress in ratifying CETA.

I remember when Manchester United were chasing Ollie Watkins last summer and the fees went crazy. We walked away, which looks like a good call.
Now he is 30, valued around €30m, with only 9 goals and 1 assist in this Premier League season. We brought in the younger Benjamin Šeško instead, smart move.
Fast forward to 2026, United are now linked with Morgan Rogers and are preparing bids in the £78m to €90m range. Aston Villa want nine figures. Solid player with 8 goals and 5 assists in 31 games, but at that price?
INEOS and the recruitment team should stay disciplined like they did with Watkins. We avoided an overpay once and got better value. Don’t get pulled into another Villa merry go round at inflated fees.
Fix midfield. Fix defence. Then talk.

@StanCollymore Said it a year ago he loses it too much but gets a pass because of moments of magic. These moments are too few right now but hopefully he finds it again soon. Frustrating player can be replaced easily

We need to have a conversation about Morgan. Starting to look like a player who's "made it".
He's played a lot of games already for Villa, so he gets a pass when it comes to fatigue, he's done a lot in a very short period.
But...
Flicks, losing it under no pressure, he "looks" and feels different. I hope it's not becoming a wanted man..

Took me over two hours to get back from Blackrock Clinic through the EastLink bridge. It was annoying, especially sitting in traffic in nice weather. But this government listens to nobody, and even with a show of peaceful force like shutting down the city our politicians dig in and say protestors are the villains here. We're governed by villains and halfwits and there'll come a point when people are happy to support any disruption that reminds these career politicians that they don't own this country, we do.

@Alarsenalnews_ Fans had a chant for this:
Tony Adams is magic, he's got a magic knob,
And when he saw Caprice, he put it in her gob,
He put it in her fanny, he put it in her bum,
And then he went to White Hart Lane and shagged Glenn Hoddle's mum
English

When Tony Adams got together with Caprice Bourret, the dressing room was as stunned by it as everyone else.
This was Tony Adams, dating a super model.
At first it had all gone well enough.
They went out, had weekends away, and he admitted he felt like a king being with one of the most famous women in the world.
But after a while Adams knew something was off.
The more time they spent together, the more he felt he was getting the show rather than the person.
By then he was sober, going to AA meetings four or five times a week, and trying to live a different way.
He had started caring less about the surface of things and more about whether there was actually anything underneath them.
So he spoke to his therapist James and came to a decision.
He had to end it properly.
So when he went round to Caprice’s place just off the New King’s Road in Chelsea, he was nervous.
He also admitted she looked stunning when she opened the door, which did not exactly make the whole thing easier.
For a second he was tempted to say nothing at all and stay the night.
He knew he could not do that.
“Look, Cap.”
“I can’t go on with this. It’s f****** my head up.”
“I’m not getting anything back from you.”
“I need to put my recovery first. It’s more important than any relationship.”
She told him she had strong feelings and thought the relationship was the real thing.
That left Adams confused because it was probably the first time in the whole relationship that he felt they had actually been properly intimate.
But by then he had already made his mind up.
A few weeks later Arsenal had a game against Spurs.
Tim Sherwood was speaking to Adams and Lee Dixon and the subject came up.
Sherwood looked at Dixon in disbelief and went:
“Caprice? Him - Caprice?”
Dixon did not waste much time dressing it up.
“Yes.”
“And he bombed her out.”
Sherwood could not believe it.
“You f****** idiot, what do you do that for.”
Adam’s just shrugged his shoulders.

At some point, senior Premier League execs have to offer a proper explanation in public for their leniency towards Chelsea. They owe an explanation to fans of clubs punished more harshly. They owe an explanation to those clubs who did abide by the rules. They have to offer some explanation as to why PSR breaches are deemed far more serious than acts of "deception and concealment". Yes, these are the offences of a previous regime at Chelsea. But inconsistencies run through the PL's defence and their reputation is damaged. They can’t hide from a controversy of this magnitude.

Interesting that in the Everton points deduction verdict the Premier League said “A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty” and that “the requirements of deterrence, vindication of compliant clubs, and the protection of the integrity of the sport demand a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction’.
Presumably the Chelsea fine (which ultimately is just a deduction from what billion dollar Clearlake will pay to billionaire Abramovich from the £150m held back at the deal date) is then neither punishment, a deterrent or protecting the integrity of the sport?
If I was an Everton or Forest fan would not be happy with this outcome.
