the fact that paul higgins was there waiting for each of the boys as they arrived to walk them in, a familiar face who they spent so many precious years with, a man who understands what they’re going through, is so special.
protected them as teens, now protecting them as adults❤️🩹
Today. A family buries their son and brother. A kid buries his dad. 5 friends bury a brother. Other friends bury a friend. A fandom says goodbye to their favorite person. A generation says goodbye to an icon & the world buries the kindest soul ever. Liam, we love you🤍#LiamPayne
“And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it. No one would ever have seen it.” - Liam Payne
When we were on X Factor in 2010, we were groomed, conditioned, and bound by contracts to stay silent; in not so many words, we were expected to put SyCo and the other companies involved above our own well-being.
We weren’t “allowed” to see our NHS GPs if we were struggling. Those in need of care were instead shuttled off—often under blankets—to the show’s private doctor, Dr. Sophia Khalique, who had been involved with the company for years. I had my own experience in her office involving medication, which led to me collapsing later in the evening with no real help offered—just a push to go outside and face the waiting cameras as we were ‘filming’.
The conditioning, “media training,” hypnotherapy, and tapping exercises became so deeply ingrained in all of us, that we all began to lose ourselves, becoming shells of who we once were. This left vulnerable young people exposed to industry vultures, unable to reach out for the help we truly needed, still to this present day.
We followed the rules. We repeated, “we are just so grateful for the opportunity.” But the dark reality is this: these companies stole people’s voices, stripped their identities, and left behind nothing but poor, unfortunate souls.
