most of the American and Canadian Pakistanis I’ve met with are either working in STEM, doctors or successful entrepreneurs. There are a few crackheads but the number is negligible. Whereas for the British Pakistanis, it’s the opposite, most of them are crackheads while very few are successful in their field.

The LGBTree comminty is making more hue and cry about the 19000 Mulpberry trees cut in islamabad then for 13000 homes demolished and families displaced near mulsim colony. The major issue raised by this community in comments was that: "we dont need development (planned) in Islamabad because we dont want outsiders to live with us. General Ayub chacha nay sirf 20,000 old-money boomer-wokes-babus aur un ke auladon kay liay islamabad banaya tha. humaray dada ko to muft main plot mila tha, yeh baki kami kameen kahan say aa gaye salay?" PS: My family lives in E, F and G sectors. so this is not a hate tweet!
Waqas Ahmed@waqas03

Again an example of living in F-sector LGBTree in action. Bhai, we are the 4th most populated country. Our cities are overloaded with population. You cannot fix this even if you introduce 100,000 plots.Islamabad is now 50 kms wide, your own airport is in another district. The only solution is highrises and metro transport. If not dubai, we can see examples of chinese and turkish cities. Unlimited skyscrapers, unlimited trees and best metro transport. I have a strong beleif, Pakistanis by nature are anti development; anti modernity, basically a static villager mentality is still very much intact. Posting few pics from Istanbul which had the same size of hills. I am totally against touching of a single tree on margallahs, but it doesnt mean we cant have a central buiness district or everytime a metro project comes, the F sector climate LGBTree comes into action...

@waqas03 They don't want any development in ISB . They want it to be same forever so only them elite can live there. More development will bring more people and businesses to the city. They don't want hotels, roads, bridges etc. They want to live in their bubble.

LGBTree: Woke group of socialsts in a city who have never read any data but are only focused only on the negative side of things. Mostly they live in posh areas, have no sense of city operations but cry havoc if a single tree is displaced. They confuse climate change with the environment, are chauffer driven, and some even have random PHDs; seen mostly hovering around seed fundings, climate & "sustainability" sectors, and NGOs. Their peer reviews references against society are maid ka charsi husband or husband ka charsi boss.

Ohh My God... another preivlieged islamabadi boomer babu vents utter nonsense. Lemme tell you a few facts. 1. Islamabad other then F sector was never more greener then it is now. Literally tens of thousands of trees fo all types were planeted by Gulberg, Anchorage, DHA and Bahria. That land was barren and now its green, you can go and check our google hsitoric imagery! The interchange shown was made in PTI tenure (PWD) which was the worst project as it was given to a black listed company of Peshaware metro bus. the contractor wasted 3 years and then it was transferred to new contractor by SS. 2. Thousands of trees are planted on margallah avenue, barakahu by pass, and islamabad expressway but as its not F sector, so mummy daddy boomers will bat an eye on it. 3. Huge plantation drive was done in takhpari forest by DHA and Bahria but climate change aunties never posted a single thread on it. 4. Every new project is mandated to have tree plantation in clover loops and service roads. Pasting pics from google earth which proves islamabad has more green cover in last 15 years. Its just the elite mindset who never wanted Islambad to grow beyond F sector because their privelege was hurt! 1.Islamabad 2026 2.Islamabad 2011

Pakistan has had a lot of success in anti-terror operations inside Balochistan. Alhumdulilah. There has also been a very fast pace of development, but there is one major problem. Which is that all of this development is government led. Zero private sector.

After careful consideration, my family and I have decided not to participate in today’s PSL franchise auction. Our time with Multan Sultans was never just about owning a cricket team. It was about South Punjab. About giving a voice to a region that had been overlooked for too long. That’s what drove everything we built. If I come back to PSL, it has to be for the same reason. South Punjab is where my heart is. It is home. This year, I’ll be in the stands. Cheering for players on and celebrating with the fans. And when the Multan team is being sold, we’ll be ready. Wishing all the bidders the best. May the most outspoken owner win! 😄❤️

We have been conditioned to believe that democracy is the gold standard of governance, a sacred model beyond question. But this blind reverence ignores the fundamental truth: the only purpose of any political system is to implement the will of the people and improve their lives. If democracy becomes a tool for chaos, elite capture, corruption and hollow rituals, then what is the point? Systems should be judged by outcomes, not slogans. A government that fails to deliver dignity, justice and prosperity has no legitimacy, no matter how democratic it claims to be. It is time we stop worshipping systems and start demanding results.

If Daniel Kahneman and others are to be believed, human beings are riddled with cognitive biases that distort decision-making and lead to poor outcomes. If this is true at the individual level, it raises serious questions about political systems like democracy that depend on the collective wisdom of flawed individuals. In reality, what we see is that even in advanced democracies like the US and Europe, voters consistently elect mediocre leaders, those who understand how to manipulate emotion, identity and fear rather than offer competence or vision. The rise of populism is a glaring symptom of this failure. This undermines the claim that democracy naturally filters out the unfit and rewards merit. In fact, it increasingly appears that democracy, as currently structured, rewards those who can exploit cognitive weaknesses, not those who can lead. If even educated societies fall into this trap, the implications for developing countries like Pakistan where education, access to information and institutional strength are limited, are even more alarming. We urgently need to rethink political governance systems and explore models that select for competence, integrity and long-term thinking before the cost of mediocrity becomes irreversible.
